The lighting style is what makes this a favorite for me. Also what was your reference for the image?
My attempts do not have this range of light/dark.

Nice work. I'd recommend to add a lot of different hue variations to achieve more life. For example some parts of the face should be quite red in color. Also, try to avoid shading with pure black and white and use different colors instead.

I Love the lighting on he skin, and even though it started out as a speedpaint the overall composition is very nice. And I LOVE the design around the shirt it really add to the realism of the cloth. Great piece!
