Description
This was an ambitious project that I undertook earlier this year. The idea I was toying with was to construct a dark, apocalyptic world using a majority of original photographs. I went out for 2 days and shot hires digital photos of industrial plants, skies, etc. I had a few hundred photos to sort through. The final piece uses about 24 original photos, which make up about 75% of the image. The rest was created with various stockart of fire, etc. I photoshoped this piece together in about 3 days, and it took a hell of a lot of work, to turn the bright images into a nightmare. The final composition is completly composited and represents no single place. I cropped this image from the original completed version. The original had more debries in the foreground. Everything was done in print res and I ended up with a 300+ meg file. I'm particularly happy with the glowing edges of buidings, where you can almost feel the heat. Comments welcome.Update: Poster prints are available now up to 51" wide (3 sizes available). Find out more here: [link]

Wow this is awesome! I like the large use of the different buildings and the odd vehicle is a nice touch to make it realistic. I think adding humans to the pic would take away from it - this seems more to me like the picture was "taken" a while after something has occurred when everything is haywire - maybe the people ran away . Anyway, it's sweet!

Cool! I like it. It looks like a painting almost in full view (in a good way). The dark colors really highlite (or hilight?) the flames. Thats pretty sweetness stuff. Keep it up.

Thanks. I should have mentioned that I put in a LOT of grain, because I wanted a really smooth, soft feel to the look. Also, the jpeg compression doesn't work that wonderfully with high grain images
Yeah, it does need humans, but I didn't have the time/resources to set that up. Also, I'm not exactly sure how I would want them to look. Suggestions?
I'll admit that the perspective is somewhat tweaked. This is probably the result that after I shot, I came back to my studio and had to see what I had to work with. If I was to try this again, I'll plan out the perspectives better and try to make sure that each time I shot, I shot in the same way/condition.

Very nice idea and since I do similar things I can really appreciate the work you must have put into this.
However, I think this could look a little more coherent. Sometimes the edges are too sharp and the overall pictures is very pixelated.
Why didnยดt you put in any humans?
Other than those points: great work!
