Description Some background info about this AU here
(I've actually decided to call Darkwings Dracwings instead so don't mind that)

Had this file sitting around and finally got to finishing it since I'm trying to clear up some of my art backlog. I've been watching some AA streams so I kinda missed these two. Also, Apollo isn't a lawyer in this AU. He's probably like a college grad in some sorta arts, idk it's not super relevant. Simon has barred wings and eye markings in reference to Taka.

Usually when a Featherwing and a Dracwing have kids, their children will possess the traits of only one of those wing types, and carry the other as a recessive. There are also some shitty people in the universe who are super purist about having only one type in their gene pool but they've become less common. But Apollo and Simon are the only currently-living bird people to express a hybrid gene and they've faced a lot of judgement for it. Hybrids have a tendency to carry odd traits (talon-like feet, more feathering on the body as well as actual tail feathers) and were thought to be more feral in nature and have dangerous powers, though they were mainly only heard of in legend.

Apollo Fey-Wright has always felt out of place: the hybrid child of two sacred bloodlines, struggling to fly because of his wing structure and constantly distanced from his peers. On top of it, he has the ability to tell when people are lying. His parents love him and try to support him in his frustrated flailing through life, but there's only so much they can do. He's kind of jealous of his sister Trucy, a normal Featherwing who seems to have everything in life going for her. Fed up with it all, he leaves one day, sees how far his small, awkward wings can take him.

As a young adult, Simon Blackquill was driven out of fear that he would bring ruin to his home. He fled to the mountains and lived in solitude for quite a few years. It's a difficult life, but he has endured. There have been rumors about a hawk creature with massive, clawed wings who lives on the highest mountain and steals livestock, and whispers from parents that if their children don't behave, the monster will snatch them up too. He hears these on rare outings to the outskirts of towns and while they're nothing more than myth, he knows they're about him. He doubts any other has wings like his.

And then an exhausted Apollo stumbles into the entrance of his cave one evening.
