Description
They hear the voice of the most beautiful women they could ever imagine. Her haunting song calls out to them, beckoning them to come closer. Her voice drives them to madness as the seas begin to churn around them. They could think of nothing more than to reach her, to caress her. And she continues to call to them, singing about how their touch will end her loneliness. The sky darkens as thunderous clouds rolled over the schooner. As they near the source of the song, the lovely woman vanishes from their mind, only to be replaced by a serpent from the depths below. But the men are still maddened by the serpent's angelic voice, unable to escape the doom that awaits them...Yeah. I went there again. I seem to recall Neo-Monster Island doing Kaiju Gals and did a fem-Dragon Caesar with boobs and everything. Well, like Daijinryuu, I can make Caesar female without applying the womanly parts. I can give her the voice of a Siren and make her lure men out to sea with promise of food, sex, and wine, but only to destroy their ships, devour their souls, and drag their bodies under the waves.
And since Daijinryuu had multiple images of her, I decided to do the same for Caesar. Yeah, I'm not that great at drawing oceans, but I'm using a technique called Impressionism, which is used in this case to show the motion rather than accuracy. So, don't pick on it too much.

Schooners have been around for a couple of hundred years. But in context to that image, that's more like the 19th Century.
As for Caesar, she was defeated by the Shogozus, recruited by Dagon (who is a relation to Ghidorah but not Ghidorah himself), and to fill the emptiness she has for working for Bandora those eons ago, sinks sailing ships after luring the sailors with her enchanting voice.
Though, more recent times, she stops doing what she does, being released from Dagon's service, but rewarded for doing those horrible deeds...deeds that yes she doesn't agree with. Her reward is the ability to walk among humans in disguise and Caesar does so in the town of Angel Grove. I wouldn't say she becomes best friends with the Rangers, but she is nice to them at times and is basically one of their other friends they know outside their little five-man band.
However, when Bandora/Rita returns, the only thing that's on Caesar's mind is to stay in the shadows and out of the way, promising never to serve anyone ever again. However, this is thrown down the drain when Rita creates her new Green Ranger. Despite the fact he eventually joins the others, Caesar just hates him. She never lets it on though, making sure her identity remains secret from the Rangers. But eventually they discover her secret and I had this idea of when that happens, Caesar demands that Tommy hand over his coin and Zyushoken/Dragon Dagger to her and if not, she's gonna kill him. Yeah, take that, Tommy!

Right, I was just wondering when this time was taking place, as I wasn't sure weather she came under Dagon's services after the reign of the original Rangers and Bandora/Rita, Thousands/Millions of years ago, or after the modern conflict which took place in the 1990s in both series.
Oh, that is an interesting continuity. What alias does she use as a human then? So your version is kind of a combination of Zyrangers and MMPR then, right?

Eh, kinda sorta.
I call the human form of Caesar Dana, which is the name of a Celtic water goddess.
She came under the service of Dagon after the first battle eons ago. In the 90s, she's disguised to keep off of Rita's radar until the current Green Ranger Tommy uses the Dragon Dagger to summon her.

Are you sure you didn't watch the latest Pirates movie? Sirens and everything.
Anyways, it requires a bit of imagination to picture something like that with an angelic female voice.
π: 0 β©: 1
Ghostwalker2061 In reply to Netarliargus [2011-06-13 20:55:40 +0000 UTC]
I swear, I've been having this kind of imagination since I was little.
Well, you have to remember about the original idea of the Siren, they looked kinda like harpies, but could enchant the will of men with their voices. So, whether or not they were drop dead gorgeous, or hideously ugly is up to interpenetration, but their voices helped disguise their "handicap".
So, for Dragon Caesar, she would use that enthralling voice to call sailors to their doom and it is the magic of her voice that keeps them enchanted despite her appearance. Their minds see the most beautiful woman in the world singing to them, but in reality, it's a horrible monster behind that song.
I swear, I haven't seen it yet, but I hope it's still at Tinseltown so I can.

*scratches head* ...and how does that work when there are females on board? Tsk, tsk, biased mythology.
Ah well, if you liked any of the previous movies you'll probably like the new one as well. It's more or less Johnny Depp doing his thing the whole movie.(On a sidenote, I'd reckon he'd totally fall for a Siren )

I've heard negative reviews of this movie. But at least it's without Will and Elizabeth. I really didn't like them. They were good for the first, but they kinda worn out their luster after that.
I know, well, the myth of the Siren came from a time when it was mostly men going out to sea instead of women. So, I'm guessing the only ones who would be immune to Caesar's song would be regular women, who would see Caesar for who she is. But remember, women would not be the ones controlling the ship, and most likely would be killed or such by the men if they try to stop them.

Well, the first half is rather boring, but after a while it starts to pick up, just remember to leave your brain at the door and not ask too many questions. (the plot has so many holes in it that if it was a ship it'd probably be resting on the bottom now.)
Hmh, I recall they used that hole in the legend to their advantage in "Sinbad" although the Sirens are completely different looking in that one. Oh, and it doesn't seem to work on dogs either. [link]

I don't know why but somehow that always amazed me that it comes out of the ocean. Not to mention I think Caesar always had a unique appearances over the other megazords. I consider that one to be a one of a kind.

Ghostwalker2061 In reply to peffy [2011-06-13 20:35:46 +0000 UTC]
He/she definately did have a unique look. I always thought Caesar was different. I mean, if you watch the episode Zyuranger 43: Revive, Zyusouken! (which is "Birds of a Feather" in Power Rangers) it's completely about Dragon Caesar, even starts out with Caesar doing some "vigilantism" in Tokyo by hunting down a monster on "her" own. And then the rest is basically Caesar being all depressed over Brai's death until the end when she decides to give Geki a chance. I think it's one of my favorites.
Of course Power Rangers version of that episode is all about Zack trying to give confidence to a karate student. Kinda takes the meaning out of the original episode.

Well, to play Saban's Advocate here... It would have probably seemed a bit silly using most of the footage in that episode as Tommy wasn't dead, he just lost his powers. There's something a bit silly-looking in seeing Dragon Caesar all depressed, wandering around a field, and that might have been a disaster if Saban tried adapting it anyways. I also understand them cutting the nighttime fight with DoraAntaeus, as Power Rangers had established already that Megazord didn't do so good without sunlight, and the show was already popular to the point where SOMEONE would have written in from the Please Please Please Get A Life Foundation.
Although I wish they had at least centered that episode around Jason, since it is the first time Red Ranger uses the shield and dagger. Zack already had like 4-5 focus episodes, and I know the first season had a metric tonne of episodes, but still, give something up for Leader-man.

I never watched the Japanese version of the power rangers so I lack the knowledge of those episodes. And every time I remember watching the Power Rangers, I would consider it the best moment of the show When Caeser would come out of the ocean. And now I feel like watching the episode since you just mentioned it.
Plus, I have to agree with what you said on how it is different from the other Zords. Does having a mind of its own work out in this situation?

Unfortunately, these are not dubbed or subbed. You'll have to read heavily into their voice emphasis and also into Caesar's body language to get what's going on.

Im going to do that, but the videos are taking such a long time to buffer and I want to watch em already. Daijinryuu. Yup. Saw that episode, huh? Daijinryuu coming down and breaking up the fight by blowing up half of Tokyo. That was fun! Let's not forget the children jumping off of buildings to their deaths at the command of Daijinryuu.
That was awesome. Horrifying, but awesome. Wish Power Rangers was like that. Japanese kids have it good over there.

Hey at least Daijinryuu was able to keep the peace by making it that happen. I found it sad in how the English version was interesting but the Japanese version was so much better. I have to admit, Japan gets the better of things when it comes to shows like that.
Here it gets censored and stuff like that because its deemed to violent for kids.
π: 0 β©: 1
Ghostwalker2061 In reply to peffy [2011-06-13 21:28:03 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, that's basically why we got pretty much a dumbed down version of the original Sentai with American actors. I mean, they think the kids wouldn't get ideas like Guardian Beasts being mechs with minds of their own or something like that, so Saban called them Zords and said they are piloted by people instead of just being "guided" by people.
Or the fact that kids over here wouldn't get an all powerful god-like being coming down from space telling both the sides of good and evil to knock it off or else more bad shit would happen. They want to think that kids only understand good and evil and never the neutral.
It is sad.

Well I grew up with the American Version and after watching just the episode of Daijinryuu telling both sides to stop fighting and making people jump off buildings, I figured out that I'm missing out on a lot of stuff
Btw I'm still watching the episode and I have to admit Caeser is one kickass Zord. I think he's the best Zord out there in the Power Rangers universe
Well I guess they wanted something can considered suitable for young children. If they kept the way it was in Japan, it could have started quite a commotion

Fuck that. It would have been awesome. I mean in the 80s, Dynaman, which was a sentai that happened 8 years before Zyuranger ( Power Rangers) was brought over to America in a dubbed format. So, it isn't like we couldn't have done something like that again.
I know, isn't Caesar cute? It's no wonder even today, the kids in Japan like him/her so much.
