Went to Hastings today and I finally unearthed a DVD copy of one of my favorite/one of the greatest movies ever: Super Mario Bros.

NOW, first thought that jumps to people's minds is that this was one of the biggest flops in movie history, but on the flip side, the pioneer of the videogame-to-movie genre. There is a lot of controversy and bashing behind this flick, but I look past all that and just enjoy it as a great sci-fi/action/comedy starring the great Bob Hoskins as Mario Mario himself!

Haha, anyways, I nabbed it off the shelf and spent my evening watching it! I hadn't seen it in years, I was totally enthralled, and laughed at all the video game references found in the background.

Upon finishing it, I was like "Hey, I'm gonna draw some Mario fanart! But...my Mario depictions are somewhat obscure and disproportonate to the plucky plumber's iconic self." Then I was like, hell, I'll do a realistic Mario based on the one Bob Hoskins portrayed in the movie XD

Lol this is my result! I'm gonna either color it in pastels or colored pencil, not sure, but I'll do that later...here's the somewhat shaded work for now, I'll lightbox it when I color it!
