Description
The 1933 Austin Twelve-Six Saloon is a 14 tax horsepower car with a large 1711cc engine that was introduced by Austin in August 1933. It featured a single-plate dry clutch with three-speed centrally controlled gearbox. Extra Items (supplied as standard) included an air cleaner, electric windscreen wipers, a large reflecting mirror, a clock, petrol gauge, motometer & retractable luggage carrier. There were 71,654 models produced between 1933 and 1939. Original price 235 £ for the standard model 325 £ for the luxury version. Top prices in 2017 for an original Austin Twelve-Six run between 3,600 £ & 7,500 £.
The original 3D model was incomplete but had great potential. So I took up the challenge. Here are the extra items added – Front and back seat, complete dashboard, complete steering wheel, rear brakes and caution lights, windshield wipers, brake drums, front and rear suspension parts, hood ornament, Austin “wings”, radiator logo & hood louvers. Modifications were made to ungroup all parts. Cutaways were used to separate vinyl top & whitewalls. Right hand sidelight was duplicated to match the left. British plates were added to front and rear bumpers. All original textures were borrowed from Flickr.com and Pinterest UK.com. websites. Many thanks to the artists, engineers & designers at Sketchup.com for their fabulous library.
