Description
Catching my breath,
Enough with the running
This city has boxed me in
Giving me the illusion of freedom

I've been running for days
Escaping the walls of my sanity
The city wants me to call it a home
Giving me the illusion of freedom

I look at the clouds forming above
Little power lines cross my mind
Trees are reaching out from the pavement
Giving me the illusion of freedom

All the cars, shops, buildings, crowd
Can't all of us open our eyes and see?
We are all boxed in this city
And we can't break free

****

This is my first submittion with my new camera. The Canon 5D. I'm really exited about it, and I think it will be a love story. I will still keep using my Nikon D70 for Infra Red shots, and for a back up camera, but The "Full frame" monster is something I'be been planning on for a long time, and I finally did it.

Canon 5D
Canon 17-40 lens
Tel Aviv, Israel.

You're really good at capturing reflections. I like reflection of the sky and that only the car can really hint which side is the reflection.

great job

You got an amazing camera, wish you all the best with it. And the fist shot you made with that full-frame beauty is just amazing. I love your style when shooting reflections in a puddle. Have something to learn. Thank you.

That... is amazing.

In my opinion, a good reflection makes for a excellent picture.

Did you use any filters for the shot?

gilad In reply to SpaceWhale [2007-01-06 22:09:59 +0000 UTC]

No. No filters

SpaceWhale In reply to gilad [2007-01-06 22:12:59 +0000 UTC]

I guess that makes sense, since a polarized filter would ruin the reflection that makes the picture what it is.

Silly me.

On a random note, I ordered the Hoya IR filter you recommended, so hopefully I'll be able to do some IR stuff soon.

It's very interesting how you use the mirror effect of the puddles and rotate the photo. I shall try it sometime.

Thank God for rainy days

Glad you enjoy your new camera

gilad In reply to stisher [2007-01-06 22:29:16 +0000 UTC]

Reflections are usualy effected by the movement of water, and by what is underneath the water.
It's the same here, the crossing lines underneath the water got me the "clouds" effect

This is a sheer guess, because I can't quite figure out how you did it, but is the camera at the angle of reflection of the water to achieve such a perfect reflection?

You love your reflections don't you, I love them too. I need to find out what a full frame sensor actually means, because I still don't understand what the advantage is.

Fantastic photo, beautifuly saturated colours!

Bigger sensor means more dynamic range and better clarity.
The smaller sensor have advantges too like the crop factor, but I like wide anyway..

Raquhel In reply to ??? [2007-01-06 21:43:00 +0000 UTC]

Fantastic! Just a quick question. Couldn't you use the Canon 5D to take Infra-red Shots too? Or is the Nikon D70 the only best one that can?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

gilad In reply to Raquhel [2007-01-06 21:58:21 +0000 UTC]

The canon is not good for Infra. They added a built in hot mirror to block Infra Red light. Nikon has a hot mirror too (as all digital cameras) but it allows the Infra Red light needed to go through
