Reality fades into memories
Here it comes, the deep sleep
I just hope no body will come to sit

Even though the IR filter only passes IR or near IR light, based on the white balance settings, most dSLR sensors will produce a false color spectrum for the image. In some cameras, the false colors are quite pleasing, as in this image. Others' are downright unpleasant and need to be corrected or desaturated.

I've seen a few photo threads that suggest a 30D can handle IR. I have a Rebel Digital and mine works great with an Hoya72IR. Here's a sample I found for you: [link]

When the WB is right, 3 colors are documented (depends on the camera, but still possible) - black, white(grey) and brown. The brown is later switched to blue un the color channels.
If you want to know more about it, I wrote a tutorial that you can find linked at the bottom of my journal

Gilad... I dont get it... How you are the most amazing photographer I have seen.

Look at this for perfect example.
You take benches and trees. And make such a simple thing, a deep, deep message. Somehting so simple. Have so much meaning.

I read the title. And thought Deep Sleep?
Thinkiung somewhat of a Sleeping Beuaty, maybe a model or something.
But no, you use so much more, you use life.
Something so simple to send off an astounding message.

Your photography not only inspires me, makes me happy, makes me feel I am not alone.
But it also shows, that life is so much more. And the simplest things have the greatest meaning.

Keep up the amazing work.

What a lovely photograph. This is gonna sound silly...but it's almost like the two benches are friends.

I love the composition, but I am not sure about the fussiness of the trees. Was the wind blowing pretty hard? I know that you have to have a pretty long exposure on IR and that may be the cause, if so then I can live with it. Finding a completely windless day to shot IR is almost impossible, I know!

gilad In reply to rbradford [2006-11-15 21:19:07 +0000 UTC]

It's not so long as far as long exposures go, but it's long enough to get the movement of the trees

I really love your IR work, your the reason I started trying to shoot IR. I have some OK shots, but nothing like yours. Someday though. My IR shots usually have exposures between 3 secounds and 10 secounds depending on how much sun there is. This seems pretty long to me except for night shots.

An ideal space for littler endings, as well as the big one...
I had no idea this type of thing was even possible in photography without manipulation of some kind...
You broaden my horizons.
Thank You!

Looking at the last line of your verse, I think you are being too easy on the reader. Of course somebody will come to sit there! And a good solid earthy seat it is, too, fading slowly, slowly into what comes next... I would be happy to have such a space at my ending
