Beautiful lighting and golden tones! it almost sparkles. And it gives the image a more upbeat tone - like they're homeless but they're used to it and ok with it. It's almost as if they're hanging out in front of the fireplace.

Not only is the composition, lighting, and shadows just right, but the subject matter is kitties! How could one go wrong?
I have taken in my fair share of homeless cats (we have 7 just in this house now), so I know the need of making sure they are fixed.

I just saved a kitten from the cold today, and I just wish I could those two as well. It breaks my heart how people can be so cruel to animals that can offer the best kind of love others can't.

Using flash with a small light, not one that gives a dominate light to light up the entire scene and change the light conditions.
The name changes form one flash to the other. It's called fill flash and some, slow flash in others, just a symbol in others.. Play with your flash and you'll find it. It gives a small light and is designed to help day shots with more details
