Description
What is life? Is life happens just when somebody else know about it? I mean, if nobody knows you're there, you might as well not be there, or even be dead. Am I right?
People search for the perfect life all around the world, but I know better. I was just thinking that there is an old Chinese saying that tells that if you stand long enough in one place, the whole world will pass you by. I know he said it because he said that while standing in my shade. I remember I thought it would be great if it was true. I could really "see the world". A few hundred years later I can tell you that if all I've seen is what this world has to offer, the world must be a sad place. Seasons change, Rain and then sun and again. Night becomes day and day becomes night again. Birds fly, land, take a crap, fly again. Sometimes a Jeep drives by leaving a cloud of dust. Hundreds of years that I'm here and now I understand that the old Chinese was just trying to be nice, and give me hopes for an interesting future, but sometimes a tree is just a tree. The less thinking I do, the better the time I have. Because, after all, what is time....

Very inspirating work... I like the photo and all concept. Lonely, sad tree... just like the people. Most of them are lonely and sad deep inside themselves. Maybe because they don't see all life around them... I think people make the world sad. But, that's only my opinion. Anyway, nice work.

well, very nice picture and concept, BUT I'm sorry I don't really agree with your comment.. actually I guess the old Chinese man has some wisdom and experience about "what is life?" and about "what is happiness?"! You say everything is always the same, the seasons, the weather, the (city)life... well if you just look at the appearances and don't ask yourself the good questions (I don't say you don't), yes life is boring, but as a photograph I think you can't get bored of life! you have the eye to catch the slight detail, the difference, the changing light...that make a beautiful photo, and in some way, that make you happy (a part of happiness at least?). I hope you'll find some day a place to stay and to enjoy simple things (sure you already do) ahah
Yes, as every(?) human you have sometimes that impression that nothing matters anymore, you can have a bad day that make you think nothing really deserve to be applause, and thinking of future or death.. yes we are nothing, but that's all we've got, take the best part of it, and f*** the rest!
I just advice you to take some holidays and read some Epicure's...
Anyway I'm sorry to bother you (and with my awful english), I don't know you so I may be wrong about many things and I apologize, but just to summarise: No, a bird is much more than just a crapthing!

This tree is..remarkably similar to a tree that featured in my drems once. The hill was higher, and the tree faced in the other direction, but aside from that, same yellowing grass, same blue skies...

Only you, Gilad, would this type of photo. You seem to have endless amounts of opportunities and instances where some beautiful image presents itself to you.
I know it is the 'right side' of your brain that interprets your environment so eloquently, so it unfair to say that you just get lucky. I guess I'm just consumed with jealousy and admiration. You are, without doubt, the most influential photographer I have experienced on deviantart, and I hope to endure this frustration many times over again

Absolutely wonderful shot. My father is is a photographer (though one whose subjects are of the Homo sapien species)and he agreed that this is a very stunning photograph.
The message which you've incorporated into it is also very inspiring.

Oh, I also think the exposure on the clouds is really nice. It makes it seem as if they are popping from the canvas.

This made me smile! Nice photo! The changes you made definitely brought a more somber tone to it facilitating the title a little better. Maybe the blues were darkened a little too much? The contrast of the tree against the sky seems a little extreme to me when I look at it close up. I love it thought!
