Description
We were riding the empty streets, trying to chase the sun.
We felt nothing can stop us, like a closing scene from an action movie.
That's when little dots of shadow passed us, casting a new state of mind.
A group of birds was passing from above, reminding me to stay humble
They probably feel that nothing can stop them, but above them there are clouds
And above the clouds ... well, above them is the sun I'm trying to catch.
I stopped the chase, waiting for the birds to pass.
After all, whether I'm going to catch the sun or not, I better respect it.

This was taken during "Yom Kipur" (Day of Atonement) in Ramat Gan, Bialik street (Israel).
There is no driving in the streets during the holiday, so children with bikes take over the streets.

I must say that this photos is exactly what Yom Kipur is about for me;
Silent, moving forward with no danger, a bit hazy but in focus - a bit tense but free...
Sounds strange, but that's just how I see it...
I love the concept of the name as well (at least as I see it) - While regularly it's the cars who let the kids cross, it's now the kids' turn to let the birds cross

When reading your comment about the sun, one would give a new meaning for the yellow color of the image. We also have a feel of what is present and what is not, since some birds appear and the majority doesn't; here the sun plays another role in their presence. Imagining how many elements played in the composition is great.

The road looks like stairs in small view. The full view is beautiful. The boy in middle reminds me of the times when I used to go off with friends, without a helmet on. The shadows of the birds create the great stillness of time.
I like the line "I stopped the chase, waiting for the birds to pass."
I wish I could capture such moments. (Or at least, that I could use my camera) You have great skills

Once again, the writing compliments the shot so well! Plus its an interesting time of the year, Yom Kipur. A friend of mine went to live over in Israel for 12 months and came back speaking fluent hebrew and was pretty much in love the country in general and the people. We have talked and I have an ok understanding of Jewish culture and its really interesting stuff. So just knowing all of that gives this shot depth. Well done.
