Oil on Canvas. 36 cm by 28 cm. 2020.In general, I have to get away from my books and my reading once in a while, often just to learn how difficult and painstaking a process painting can be. Even reproducing such an austere and ‘simple’ portrait has taken me a great deal of time and concentration, which is why I respect Krafft’s original work more because of the reproduction. Nevertheless, I am gald. I’d be lying if I didn’t express just how rewarding and cathartic this has been for me, not despite but also because of the exhaustion in addition to the beauty of the artwork.
