It was unusually quiet in the small white room. Only the beeping of a monitor and the dripping of an IV made noises to reverberate through the room. Occasionally one of the visitors would couch from his exposure to cigarettes, but no words were spoken. Yet.

Izaya sat to the right of the bed, next to your tucked in figure. He leaned over and had his elbows on your bed, crossing his arms and resting his chin on them. He was looking between you and then to the man on the other side of the bed; Shizuo.

The blonde had crossed his arms and sat back in his chair, pushing it against the wall and leaning his head back on it. His face held an annoyed expression as he glared at Izaya, the flea who, in his opinion, got you hurt.

“This was all your fault, you know…” A slick voice broke the silence, as Izaya traced his finger on the patterns in your bed-sheets. “If you could control yourself, you wouldn’t have ever hurt (Y-)—“

“Shut up.” Shizuo growled, a warning tone in his voice. “If you didn’t move out of the way, she wouldn’t be like this.” He countered, putting emphasis on it.

“If you didn’t throw it—“

“If you didn’t piss me off—“

“I’m the one who pulled her out!”

“Well I’m the one who lifted it off!”

“If you could just learn the simple function of controlling yourself we wouldn’t even be he—“

Izaya froze and looked down in surprise. He felt your hand twitch a little closer to his, and you flexed your fingers. Both of them stared at it in slight awe, then back up to you. The doctor had said that there was a small chance you would wake up today, and it all depended on how quickly you could recover. Shizuo leaned forward in his seat and Izaya sat back a little, as the room got quiet again. Other than dirty glances, their fighting had stopped from their worry for you.

“…(Y/N)?” Shizuo said quietly, gently reaching over and shaking your shoulder impatiently. Izaya sneered as he watched, standing up and walking over to the head of the bed. He brushed some of your (H/C) of of your face, looking at you with a curious expression. “(YYYYY/NNNN)..” He cooed, poking your cheek.

After a moment of their poking at you your eyes lazily opened, trying to focus. Shizuo stood up to look down at you too, and when you realized exactly who was looking down at you, you snapped back to reality. Looking at the two faces, you shook your head a little to try and rid your groggy feeling.

“…Shi..zuo?” You asked, blinking up at him before turning. “And Izaya?” You were confused—You knew that it could only have been Shizuo to throw that, but it wasn’t like either of them to try and clean up their damage.

Izaya’s serious face turned into a slick smile as he nodded, looking back over at Shizuo, and pointing at you. “See, Shizuo-Chan? Look what you did.”

Shizuo bit the inside of his cheek and glared at him, as your eyes widened. You held your arms up and shook your head quickly, “N-No no you guys! Don’t start fighting!” You pleaded, quickly realizing where this was going. You’ve seen it before, and it was ugly.

Shizuo was polite and worried enough to follow you request, and patted your shoulder before sitting back down. Izaya stuck his tongue at him, still standing. He looked down at your confused face again, “So, (Y/N). Sorry about that.”

“Yeah…. Sorry.” Came Shizuo’s rough voice from the corner. Two apologizes, and watching over you!? This was new.

You nodded and swallowed thickly, putting your arms on the mattress to try and prop yourself up. When you leaned forward you yelped, a sharp pain shooting through your back and up your spine. Biting your lip you laid back down, huffing and blowing some hair out of your face.

Shizuo got alert at your noise and sat forward again, but quickly relaxed when he saw you were okay. Izaya hesitantly patted your head, watching and wincing at the sight. After a moment you went to wiggle your feet, trying to sit up again, when you froze. Your eyes went a little wide in horror, and you blinked quickly. Your legs.. They wouldn’t move! Now that you thought about it, you couldn’t feel anything in them either… They were numb.

“G-..G-Guys?” You sputtered, starting to panic.

“Hmm?”

“What is it, (Y/N)-Chan?”

“..I-I… I can’t move my legs.”
