A Great Sea Serpent emerges from the depths of the Atlantic for a long breath of air and a scan of its surroundings. This will be its last opportunity to do so before the area is wracked by a storm.

Contrary to archaic belief, sea serpents do not possess gills; however, they are able to absorb some oxygen through their skin like amphibians and hydrakes(wavebacks, vanndrages, etc,) which allows them to further extend their time underwater. If they must go up for air during bad weather conditions, they are careful to stick no more than their snout above the water, knowing that they risk being struck by lightning if they expose too much of themselves.
