Description
The car came to a slow halt outside of a large, creamy-colored brick house. You counted about twelve square windows on the front of the house alone, and a white door. It was a rather pretty house, and it had an instantly welcoming atmosphere.

Whilst inspecting the building, you spotted a face in one of the windows, excitedly watching the car you were in. Whoever it was saw you to, and their blue eyes locked with your (e/c) ones. The person ran from the window, and was out of sight.

It had only been a month after your parents tragic death. After finding out, you were forced to move in with your Auntie and Uncle, but that didn't go so well... And so, now, you were being moved into an orphanage, since you didn't have any other relatives in the country. It was far away from home, far away from your Auntie and Uncle, far away from your friends. Everything was changing and you were powerless to stop it.

Getting out of the car, your driver (and social worker) opened the boot and grabbed your suitcase. A small growl escaped your throat, "I got!" You snapped at him, annoyed for him touching your property. Snatching the case from him, you followed him up to the house.

He knocked on the door, which opened almost immediately. Stood there was a boy with blue eyes and dirty blond hair, and glasses, who looked to be around the age of fifteen.

"Dudes, the new girls here and she's totally hot!" He yelled into the house. A taller woman appeared in the door behind him, she was a lot older, maybe in her early thirties.

"Thank you for that, Alfred." She said kindly, although you could see she was a little annoyed with the boy. She had bright, emerald eyes and blue hair, the color of the sea. It couldn't have been her natural color, yet it didn't look dyed. Her gaze fell upon you. "Ah, you must be _____! Everyone's been waiting to meet you!" She paused, taking in your unenthusiastic frown, and the bags beneath your eyes. Your expression was tired, dull, and devoid of all emotion. Not only that, you were pale, and looked unhealthy.

"B-But of course, you must be tired. Don't worry honey, I'll show you to your new room, you don't have to meet everyone just yet."
"Aw, but Earth, every-" The so-called 'Alfred' began, but the so-called 'Earth' (weird name) cut him off.

"They can wait." She told him, before shooing him away.

You were too exhausted to show it, but you were extremely relieved that this woman was so kind. You'd been worried an orphanage would be full of reckless, twisted kids, careless adults, and strict rules like a prison. But so far... it seemed okay.

Earth turned to your social worker, "Thanks, Paul."

Paul gave a small nod and went back to his car.

Earth showed you inside, leading you up a set of stairs. "Oh! I forgot to introduce myself, silly me! My name is Blue, but most of the kids call me Earth. I'm the head of the house." She smiled sweetly guiding you onto the landing.

On the landing, a boy with auburn hair and a strange curl of hair sticking out met you, his brown eyes shining brightly. "Ciao, bella! I'm-a Feliciano!" He smiled at you, and you just blankly stared back.

"That's nice of you to be so welcoming Feli," Blue praised him. She looked at the boy with soft, fond eyes, obviously caring dearly for him. "But I think _____ is a bit tired right now,"

He nodded in understanding, "Si!" And then he skipped away down the stairs.

Blue opened a door on the corridor, revealing a nicely sized room painted all light blue. It had a bed with plain covers, a desk, and a wardrobe.
"You can personalize the room a little if you like, later on." Blue said, standing on the door whilst you settled on the bed, leaving your suitcase in the middle of the room. "I'll leave you be for now. The bathroom is the first door at the end of the hall. If you need anything, come find me, hun." Blue told you before leaving, shutting the door behind her.

For a second you stared after her. She sort of reminded you of your mother...a little. The thought of her brought tears to your eyes, and you sniffled softly. Using the back of your arm to wipe the tears away, you decided to unpack to take your mind off of things. You put your clothes into the wardrobe, your books on the desk, your diary hidden under the bed, and some personal possessions were also hidden under the bed.

Once you finished, you flopped down lazily on the bed. Trying to sleep, you closed your eyes and stayed still. But sleep still would not claim you, as it had not done for a long time now. You hadn't slept properly since their death.

Giving up you took your phone out of your pocket and played some games for a good few hours until someone knocked on the door.
"What?" You bluntly said, and it opened slowly.

A boy with light, messy blonde hair and green orbs poked his head round the corner. He looked to be seventeen at the oldest. But the one thing that stood out were the hair slug-like things above his eyes.

"It's dinner time." He informed you, his accent a dead giveaway that he was British. Shrugging, you turned back to your phone.
"I'm not hungry." You stated.

"You've got to eat something, love. You'll get sick if you starve yourself." He persisted.

You clenched your teeth, glaring at him. "I don't have to do shit. And don't call me 'love'." You growled at him.

His eyes widened at you, and he looked annoyed as he backed out of your room, shutting the door.

Sighing when you were sure he was gone, a feeling of shame overwhelmed your recently habitual numbness. 'Shit?' Your parents, if they were here...what would they think? This wasn't the way they had raised you, yet, when life felt this pointless and hard, it was so much easier to hate and blame others.

Arthur walked into the dining room where everyone was sitting around the table with the nights dinner (pasta made by Feliciano) in front of them, watching him expectantly.

"She said she wasn't hungry." He informed, taking his seat at the table. "And she was rather rude too." He huffed, crossing his arms.

Blue sighed, shaking er head a bit. "Poor girl," She whispered, bringing her head up. "I want you to all be nice to her, even if she isn't too pleasant back. You all know how hard it is settling here, and she's been through a lot in this past month or so."

"What happened to the chica?" Toni asked, with a questioning frown.

Blue momentarily wondered weather it was appropriate to tell, but then decided her children (as she thought of them) were trustworthy, and knew they would be mature about the matter, most of them being able to empathize at least a little. "Well, last month her parents were killed on a train wreck. She was meant to stay with her Aunt and Uncle from then on, but for the three weeks she spent with them they abused her, as social services found out. So, now she'll be living here."

"Zhat is so not awesome." Gilbert explained.

"No wonder the dudettes so mean." Alfred added, his voice muffled by the pasta he was stuffing into his face.

Blue shot him a warning look. "She's not mean Alfred. And for goodness sake, don't speak with your mouth full!"

"What kind of abuse?" Matthew quietly said, violet eyes flashing with concern.

"Whilst I'm hesitant to go into detail, physical and verbal. I know she was in hospital once, the reason social services found out about the abuse so soon." Blue gravely said.

There was a few moments of silence.

"What makes her so special, eh?" Lovino grumbled. "None of us have parents for different reasons, some of us have been through tough crap too, she is no-a different. She's just seeking attention!"

Blue slammed her hand down on the table, "Lovino Vargas! She will not be treated so rudely when you seldom know her! Got it young man?"

"She isn't seeking attention amigo. I bet with what she went though with her Aunt and uncle she hasn't had time to grieve." Toni rested a hand on his friends shoulder in an attempt to calm him down, but Lovi coldly shook him off.

"Forget it, jerk bastards." He growled, storming out of the room.

"Fratello..." Feliciano mumbled sadly, watching his brother go. Ludwig glanced towards his Italian friend.

"It vill be okay." He told him reassuringly, as everyone returned to their meals, still recovered from the shock of Lovino's outburst.

You were on your phone still, but now scrolling through old text messages from your parents, as well as photos. Every 'I love you' or 'how are you?', 'Have a nice day' brought another tear to your eyes, silently gliding down your cheek. But you didn't care.

An empty feeling filled you up. Sure you were crying but you didn't know weather to feel sad, or angry, or maybe you were meant to be happy that you were alive, and had been sent to a nice orphanage.

Two knocks sounded on your door. When you didn't reply Blue stepped in.

"I thought you might be a bit hungry." She said. She was carrying a tray with some food on it. When she noticed your tears, she rushed over to you, leaving the tray on the floor by your bed.

"Hon, are you alright?! Please don't cry!" Blue pleaded, a bit too loud as she hugged you.

"I-I'm not crying, I'm fine, dammit!" You protested, pushing her away.

"Dear, nobody is judging you if you aren't alright. If you need to cry, let it out. You've been through lots."

You were about to reply when somebody else appeared in the doorway.

"E-Earth, is she okay?" The boy said in a whispery voice. He looked very similar to Alfred, besides an odd curl, slightly longer hair, and eyes that were slightly more violet.

"I'm fine!" You tried to protest again, but this time your voice cracked and you broke down into loud sobs.
The boy came to your side along with Blue, comfortingly patting your back.

"D-D-do you wanna talk about it?" The boy offered, and you fell silent at the tempting offer. He carried on. "It it's any consolation, my parents both passed away too."

You hesitated but nodded.

"I'll leave the two of you to it." Blue put in, leaving swiftly.

For a few minutes neither of you spoke, he stayed quiet and you cried into your hands.

"My names Matthew." He eventually said, smiling kindly when you looked up at him. Wiping your eyes, you said in a scratchy voice:
"I'm _____."

There was another period of silence, but it wasn't so awkward this time.

"It was hard for me, when my parents passed, but, even though words can't describe the way it feels, and even though you'll never get over it, it gets better. Eventually the pain gores away, little by little. He frowned at you, violet orbs becoming intense. "But if you keep telling yourself it'll be okay, and that you aren't upset, you'll never move on. You have to be honest with your emotions, and give yourself time to grieve."

"I know..." You whispered, shaking violently. "I- I just..."

Without warning, Matthew pulled you in for a hug, wrapping his arms around you sweetly. "It'll be alright." He told you, and you nodded, embracing the hug.

For a long time the two of you stayed like that, until a yawn erupted from your mouth. Matthew pulled away, examining your face.
"You should get some sleep. How long has it been since you last slept?"

"About a...while." You said sleepily.

He gave a sympathetic smile. "Go to bed, okay? It'll do you some good."

"Okay."

"Good night, ____." He said, heading for your bedroom door.

"Night, Matthew, and um...thanks." You called, getting under your covers. you heard light laughter from behind the door as he left.

"No problem."

Closing your eyes, and one thought passed through your mind before sleep claimed you for the first time in a month:

'Mom...Dad...Where ever you are...I think I'm gonna be okay...'
