Description
Many regions at planet Artemis (Map of planet Artemis by GiuseppeZee on DeviantArt ) are covered by deserts and semideserts. That is characteristic especially for country Regnum Syriae at planet Artemis, which has covered more than 3/4 of country by deserts.

Especially large deserts are in southern regions in country. Only exception in south part of country, which are not totally hostile for life are parts along river Erebus crossing southern desert (Map of Terra Aonia and Regnum Syriae by GiuseppeZee on DeviantArt ) and parts in high mountain range Tartaros (up to 9 km are the largest summits of mountain range in south of country), where in some parts of moutains with higher altitude is higher annual rainfall. Thanks that at least in the highest part of mountains are placed glaciers. Melted waters from them fills lakes, which are home to several endemic bird species. One of them is Imperial Duck (Anas regalis), which is generally very rare due to limited area of its habitats (deep glacial lakes in this mountain range) in desert mountains and due to scarity of food in mountain lakes. Its global population is at level 370 - 800 breeding pairs.

Its name is derived from fact, that this species is due to its beauty allowed to hunt for royal family (maximum 10 pieces yearly) despite its low numbers and is then part of menu on holidays. On the other hand Royal family sends large resources to protection of their habitats.
