Description
Many regions at planet Artemis are covered by deserts and semideserts. That is characteristic especially for country Regnum Syriae at planet Artemis, which has covered more than 3/4 of country by deserts. Especially large deserts are in southern regions in country. Only exception in south part of country, which are not totally hostile for life are parts along river flowing in south and parts in high mountain range Tartaros (up to 9 km are the largest summits of mountain range in south of country), where in some parts of moutains with higher altitude is higher annual rainfall. Thanks that at least sparse vegetation grows and due to its isolation by desert several endemic species are growing in mountains Tartaros. One from them is Cornflower tree - only species of cornflower, which is not annual plant, but evolved into perennial plant (adaptation on dry seasons), which is growing tens and hundreds of years and thanks that it can grow into dwarf trees. However due to scarity of trees in Tartaros, almost all were cut down by sheperds for fire and only few very last loose forests remained, which are home for another endemic species. Cornflower forest were very rare also before start of grazing and before cutting down and were restricted only to springs, places with higher level of ground water.
