Island Zmargdos in southern Tyrrhenia at planet Artemis is known for its rough terrain with many rock towers and rock needles sticking out of the rainforest. These inaccessible places are habitats for many (not only) endemic plant species, and therefore these cliffs are home to animal species, which inhabits isolated places. One of them is Sky Spot Stagbug (Cerviola coccinulata), which is often seen at dead trees at the top of cliffs, where this species is breeding at dead wood.Β Stag beetle larvae, which are blind and shaped like a letter "C", feed on rotting wood in mentioned places, tree stumps, old trees and shrubs. Length of adult stagbug is up to 3-4 cm.Β Adults only live for a few weeks, feeding onΒ nectar and tree sap.
