Good shot and experience! I'll explain...
I like how I was confused by what the hell this was (I had not read the title yet). First I thought it was a tree lying on the ground. Then I realized such surface was flat.
Reason for the confusion is that I was zooming in on the middle white part, where the rest is swirling around. Quite psychedelic, in a way.
Whatever actually was photographed I had to look up in your description. Then I looked at the title, and... doh.

interesting composition, although it still feels a little raw (as in needs color correcting, etc.)
good color contrast, though. lots and lots of wood tones get set off nicely by the snow. full-view makes it much, much better.
