Description
Bound here as I am, on desk or bed I layWatching unusual things happen, it must all be inside my head
Unknown creatures attack my toes, I'm hearing things no one's said
it's all funny in a way.
For as annoying as they may appear, they all play their part.
Even though my brain is boiling, It functions all the same
To pass the time, I wrote this rhyme and made the creatures play a game
Three riddles in a row I'll ask they answer, But that is just the start
What can hold secrets while being empty, this seems plain to me
Some thing harder is in order. What can tame a lion or some cream?
Nay, something stranger. What is cool to touch yet still produces steam?
Gentlemen, quiet. I should like to speak. What hasn't an eye but still is able to see?
The creatures each in turn have tried their very best
Their answers they called aloud, but only I could hear
But their answers were nowhere near
For while they are clever, they had merely guessed
I heard a room called out, and though that is very near, a room can't hold many secrets if it is entirely bare
A piece of paper is the answer, for revealing what an empty sheet can hold is a writer's test.
For the second question a man was guessed, again so close but as you may assess
For a man to tame cream or beast, A sound whipping works the best
Although many would be up in arms if you harmed a single lions' hair
The next spoke quickly, something about dry ice. close again but no cigar my imaginary companion
Dry ice may make a fog, but it is mostly CO2, what we want is merely water vapor which is not toxic to you
A cold drink on a summer's day
Contented in winning this round I drifted off to sleep
Feeling the world fall away, I whispered in my head
Thinking to myself and them, giving the creatures a promise I will keep
In illness or in madness I will play again, for both are bound to spread
provided the wager is none too high, or the consequences to steep
