Description
Nelson was my very first OC! Until just the other day, he remained basically completely unchanged for at least 15 years (he went through rebranding and "became Eden" at one point, but I have LONG since separated them into their own characters). He was going to be the main character of my FIRST idea for a webcomic (which had no fantasy aspects, was only sci-fi, and was scrapped), but I'm so excited I still have the opportunity to share his original backstory in this one c:

Birthday: August 6th (Leo)
Race: Human (Hybrid)
Height/Weight: 5'8" / 162(+25, accounting for the tail)= 187lbs
Sex and Orientation: Male, Aromantic (will partake if offered by any gender, no romantic attractions. also shark, so 2️⃣🍆)
Language: Terran (an eventual average conglomeration of most languages native to the human homeworld, Earth)
Home Planet: Mars, UK Colony
Occupation: "The Science Bitch" /j, Environmental Engineer as his official job title, is also primarily the crew Navigator. Has the capacity to run Medical if the need arises. Really is given the runaround since the rest of the crew is largely scientifically incompetent lol.
Specialty: His greatest interest is Ecology, studies organism relationships and interactions in their natural habitats, and explores unique living environments and plant life with the hopes of advancing modern medicine and healing practices. He was one of the original founders of VESHA when he was 17

Favorite food: Steak tataki. LOVES to visit planets when they're having festivals to get in on the street food. He and Julien usually bond through their love of unique foods.

Trivia:
Often wears a wetsuit under a jumpsuit tied around the waist, or will wear the base lining of their uniforms. Any normal clothing he wears (loves sweaters!!) will have an arm wrap underneath to hold his fins against his skin to prevent rubbing and irritation.
He used to have webbed fingers, but through early childhood body hatred (and boredom), he ended up cutting them off. He has since accepted his appearance after meeting all sorts of aliens though!!
Is one of the only remaining specimen from the Mars experiments-- most others didn't survive thawing from the vitrification process, and others that did survive ended up not able to escape the resulting colony fires (not only equipment malfunction, but also from anger and panic)
Lounges in the bath at least a couple times a day, and sometimes will fall asleep in them...
Wears cologne to mask a slightly...off, briney/salty scent.
Loves to collect little objects or souvenirs from every new planet the crew visits to remember it by!
His hair is very wavy, seaweedy, and moves almost the same out of water as it does in.
Is considered legally blind without glasses, but can see perfectly crystal clear when underwater! The crew has noticed Munchies is a bit (very) clumsy when out of water, and have wondered if they also struggle with vision, but haven't really done anything to test this yet.
Alcohol of choice is an Old Fashioned. Not a fan of fruit forward or sweeter drinks (but I meaaaannn, in a pinch lol...)
The hole in his tail is where his old ID tag used to be.
Very prone to motion sickness...
