First Custom Original Character Halberd, Originally: [link]Original character by based off of [link]
Well this is what I would consider my first custom as it required me to crack out the dremel and remove things from the original character and add things from other toys. As stated before this character is based of an original character designed by someone very special to me and given to her for her 22nd birthday so I am no longer in possession of it. I like the design and thought up how to make it happen in my head and ran with it.
Based off the Universe Cyclonus mold first I cut off the tips on the shoulder wings and removed 4 wings from 2 dollar store jumbo jets. After removing their engines and sizing them, I mounted them to the remaining original wing with 2 screws. Next the "horns" and vertical wings on his tail fin were removed. The pins that mount the arms to the legs in vehicle mode were also removed and added to the top of the shoulders for a new transformation. Finally the shoulder pads and head crest were removed from a KO Gundam and added to him using epoxy. Finally with the modded head the front landing gear needed to be removed and dremeled to fit the new portion added so it could still transform.
Finally his namesake, the halberd, built totally from scratch with some scrap plastic for the axe portion, a sword tip for the top, and a section of plastic for the pole was taken from the molding that holds in Gundam pieces from model kits. They were all epoxy'd together. A hole was also drilled into his left hand so he could use both to hold it.
The whole figure was then primed and ready for painting. The original design had a lighter green which didn't sit well on this so I opted for a darker metallic green. Also gold was used instead of a tan colour...really makes this character stick out. The original design also had a silver chest and wings which was changed shortly after sending it....thanks Mindy...
All and all a first attempt that turned out pretty well and surprised when she received it at SDCC to the point of mental breakdown. He deserved to be with his true creator and at least it has a good home
