I like both versions. I think this is really cool and makes me think of Derpy more as a general rather than in the "Doctor Whooves and Assistant" sense. She is, well, a pony derp. So here, she is a general.

Are you kidding? Real armor is sexy as hell for a number of reasons. Ever seen a biker chick wearing proper biker jackets and leatehrs? Hot, because she looks like she knows what she's doing and she looks like a strong woman. So, even wearing non form-fitting armor, girls can be incredibly sexy because they look strong and able.

I respectfully disagree. Armor can be both appealing and offer meaningful protection. I think this is a nice example of what would actually be useful in combat, rather than just skimpy platemail eye-candy.
