Killian didn't have a easy start in life; poor and unloved. Left abandoned, without a mother or father, wondering the streets of saltmarsh. For food, Killian would try to fish on the harbour but without a doubt he would be caught by the town's guards; accused of stealing, and beaten to a inch of his life. On a night when the tide was at it's highest and the fish were never going to be caught, the guards, with the stench of booze on their breath, found him once again, and beat him till he was unconscious. This time they didn't leave him bleeding on the ground, stuffing the beaten and broken man into a barrel they sealed the lid and sent him off into sea. Floating in the sea for what seemed like years, he'd known hunger before, but not like this. The barrel was the first time he had a roof over his head, but this was not the home he had envisioned. After what seemed like an eternity of waves crashing against the barrel, they suddenly stopped and the sea stood still. Shortly afterward a sound boomed across the water shaking the barrel Killian was in. A voice scratched its way into his head. It was the Leviathan god of the sea offering a pact ,she would offer him a new life and power for loyalty. Without question Killian accepted. The barrel plunged under the water and emerge again but in a new part of the sea. A pirates ship found the barrel from what they thought was the wreckage of a plunder. And the halfling that opened that barrel will soon become Captain Finnegan. Killian now owes his life to the halfling and the god of the sea for now he is her Kraken.
