Yep, the mysterious allies were none other than Sonic's parents and original leaders of the resistance, Jules and Bernadette.
Jules the Hedgehog:Sonic's Father
Jules was originally a veteran of the Mobius military. When Eggman first began his takeover, Jules was one of the first people to try and stand up to Eggman. He later ended up meeting Bernadette. The two began to fall in love with each other. They eventually got married and had Sonic. Jules sometimes can be stubborn and daring, just like his son. Despite this, Jules is very caring towards his family.

Bernadette the Hedgehog:Sonic’s Mother
Before Eggman's takeover, Bernadette was training soldier in the royal army. It was these skills that helped her fend off some of Eggman's forces. While fighting, she was saved by Jules, and developed a crush on him. She was ecstatic when he asked her to marry him, even more so when she fell pregnant with Sonic. Bernadette has a strong sense of justice, and is firmly devoted to her husband, and her son, caring deeply for them.
