Description
Everybody in California had heard about The Lamplight Man.The legend had become notorious over the course of the past few months; it had all started with a young woman’s frantic recounting to her friends, talking about her experience with a strange, overly-clothed man that ‘hadn’t looked right’ slowly lumbering his way towards her, his gait uneven and abnormal. Her suspicions of something nefarious being afoot with the writhing man were, indeed, rapidly confirmed.
The individual had walked beneath a street lamp, the light of which immediately revealed pale, rotting flesh, eyes that burned with an inhuman fury, and - she swore it - a brief glimpse of rows and rows of gleaming, dagger-like teeth, all initially having been hidden beneath the blanket of darkness provided by the shadowy brim of his hat and the grim, starless night.
From there, the rumours and stories began to pour in feverishly.
A man that was far too tall standing beneath trees surveying passing families, providing a silent, sinister vigil from beneath his mysterious hat.
Purple, glowing eyes watching from dark alleyways, with pupils the size of mere pinpricks.
Snake-like metallic tendrils shooting out from shadowy corners of streets, pulling struggling drug-dealers and thugs into the inky black.
Some believed the apparent paranormal entity to be a force of good, defending the innocent and condemning those who feel that they are above the law.
Others believed it was wholly malevolent, and merely hadn’t found any ‘innocent’ prey due to the incredibly-late times it was most often sighted at.
Most just...didn’t believe it existed at all, and that the rumours were started solely for attention.
In actuality, The Lamplight Man was vengeful.
An unholy rage filled his circuitry, and what frayed, destroyed nerves he had left merely ceaselessly burned in soul-shattering agony.
He was - had been, very long ago - Michael Afton.
Nowadays, most just saw him as a monster. A once-human, pulled from a blissfully ignorant and comfortable life into an eternal one of pain and despair. He had been reduced to nothing but a monster in the closet, pathetic folklore designed to keep children well-behaved.
Michael didn’t care.
He had only one prerogative in his new, unending life; find his father.
And when he did?
Then he would show the world what a REAL monster could do.

I like it, also it looks like if Doctor Octopus was a zombie.
