Yeah. I agree. Some animated dramas are pretentious(it's a harsh word, I can't think of any word to replace sorry)
But AnoHana made it work. But in the first few episodes you won't quickly see it.

I guess. Although some anime like Higurashi, which was an awesome show, was hard to take seriously since when the characters went insane they looked like they were on an acid trip. So it's drama comes off as unintentional comedy.

And i'm sorry, but drama isn't my sort of thing. I'm more of a comedic kind of guy.
