Description
As promised, an entry! Some information then:
Connor Weston
Grew up in Lavaridge Town, Hoenn, and like most children in that place he started off on his Pokémon journey at around the age of ten. The first Pokémon he caught was a Trapinch.
Very adventurous and impulsive, and always willing to dash off at a moment's notice to some place new. But at the same time he's very attached to his hometown and returns often, taking time to hang out in his childhood playground, the desert. It brings back fond memories. But at the same time, he's fairly unreliable and has little staying power, not to mention frequently absent-minded. Once he sets his mind on something it generally gets done, but it might take a very, very long time for him to get round to finishing it. As such, he didn't even collect all the Hoenn gym badges until two years ago, and he has three badges from Kanto, four from Sinnoh and only one from Johto. He's not yet gotten round to taking on any region's elite four. Currently trying to book travel to the Isshu region.
However, he really loves his Pokémon, who he sees as his constant friends. No matter what he's doing, he takes very good care of them.
He's very sociable and makes friends quickly. He's also a serial womaniser and has a string of broken hearts left in his path. But he's not quite as slick with the ladies as he likes to think (particularly when he's had a lot to drink) and he's ended up embarassing himself a fair few times.
Entered the Helios Conference because it sounded like an awesome idea and should be a lot of fun. No real idea about how he'll do, but optimistic nonetheless.
Sahara/Flygon
Connor's very first Pokémon, and his most loyal. Generally viewed by the rest of the team as their unofficial leader. Perhaps because he's spent so many years with Connor, he's picked up a lot of his attributes; he gets on with most other Pokémon easily, has a tendency to get quite excited about an idea from time to time, and considers himself something of a hit with... y'know, female Flygons. I guess.
Revised moveset for Round Three:
Fly / Dragon Claw / SolarBeam / Sandstorm
Harmony/Gardevoir
Connor caught Harmony and her brother, Leonidas, on one of his early tours around Hoenn. Quite calm and relaxed, and perhaps due to her species, very caring towards all the others. Connor uses her as his prime special attacker, and she fulfils the role admirably, though she's quite fragile. Works well in double battles with both Sahara and Leonidas, both of whom are very protective of her.
Leonidas/Gallade
When Connor first caught his sister, the little Ralts furiously joined battle against the trainer and refused to relent until Connor eventually caught him too and added him to the team. Traditionally sees himself as being there to look out for her, their relationship became strained when Harmony evolved into a Gardevoir and became far more powerful. Leonidas, having heard rumours that it was possible to evolve into a Gallade, utterly refused to become a Gardevoir. No way was he going to be stuck forever in a dress when he could have friggin' swords on his arms. But it was two years before Connor travelled to Sinnoh and finally came into possession of a Dawn Stone. Since then, Leonidas has seen himself as the team's protector
Spike/Nidoking
Connor caught Spike on his second trip to Kanto. By this time, Spike was already fully evolved, but was suffering constant domestic abuse at the hands of an aggressive Nidoqueen. His capture was something of a mission of mercy, and since then Spike has become a little less timid. Against other Pokémon he's quite the physical powerhouse, but he becomes terrified in the presence of any Nidoqueen. The other team members tease him about this. He's also fairly freaked out by Mr Wobbles...
Mr Wobbles/Gastrodon
Absolute nightmare this one. Connor woke up one morning after a drunken one-night-stand in Canalave City. Pokéballs and discarded underwear littering the floor and a hangover setting in, he quickly picked up what was his and made his exit. It wasn't until a day later that he discovered he'd left his precious Aggron, picking up instead this Gastrodon. But damned if he can remember where that girl lived (or her name). So he was stuck with Mr Wobbles, largely because it was the only Pokémon he had that knew Surf.
Connor hates the name, but for some reason every Name Rater he's been to since insists that it's the best name ever and won't let him change it. Has tried to get away with just calling him 'Wobbles' but the Gastrodon obstinately refuses to obey commands unless 'Mr' is added. Connor is also suspicious of the slug's sexuality, since it seems interested in other male Pokémon, particularly Spike.
Cottonpuff/Swablu
Cottonpuff actually belongs to Easter, Connor's fifteen-year-old sister, and he's meant to be looking after her while the family is on holiday in Snowpoint City. Connor assumed that by 'look after' Jenny meant 'relentlessly train and then enter into a huge Pokémon tournament'. She did not. He's hoping that by at least making sure Cottonpuff doesn't evolve, he can avoid getting into trouble. Really Cottonpuff has no business being in any fights at all, but might be able to handle a support role if the situation requires.

Hmmm nice. Some unusual choices in there, not like the Flygons and Gardevoirs that nearly everyone seems to have (*whistles*). Looking forward to seeing the finished thing!
Aaand I think I read somewhere that you're not allowed 5th gen, unfortunately.

Hey thanks! I wasn't too sure about Nidoking and Flygon at first - I'm normally more comfortable darwing people.
And Maika's 17 so... I imagine she's a bit on the young side and therefore safe. But yes, no doubt they may well become friends!

This is what happens when you design characters while temporarily obsessed with Scott Pilgrim.

I'm hoping to read the books as I've heard they're awesome sauce. I saw the movie with my friends tho. It was good. Amazingly good.

Ah yes, I've read them since seeing the film. They're really good, though after the first volume they start to deviate more and more from the film (or the other way around, I guess). So it's not like you've gotta feel bad about shelling out to read something you've already seen at the cinema.

I'mma try to ignore that everyone and their mother has a Gallade, Gardevoir, or both and cut to the chase.
Your character's design is fuck awesome. It compliments your drawing style well.
And your pokemon? Good font choices on top of well painted colors. And nice drawings, obviously.
I'm a fan of that Nidoking. And the Gallade? Good lord, I love you for his expression. <3

Yeeaah I'm aware that my first three are very popular choices. But they're my faves! That's why I tried to put some variety in with the last three.
And thanks, this took a few days work so it's really nice to get some properly thought-out feedback on it. The Nidoking was actually done off a really old sketch I found in one of my sketchbooks. And Gallade and Gardevoir are always nice to draw since I find drawing people easier than animals. Sooo this tournament might be challenging, but I reckon it'll be a lot of fun!

I know, I'm guilty of being disgustingly in love with Gallade. We just can't help it.
At least it isn't an Umbreon.
YEAAAH-- I agree! I can't draw animals. @@ I entered pokemon OCTs to get some practice. lmao.

Might I be able to interest you in a pint, Mr. Weston? (That sounds familiar... Must be from Burn Notice)
Spike looks like he needs some random stranger to just run up from begin him and tackle glomp him. >w<
Good luck in the contest, Frog! Kick some ass!

Absolute hilarity, sir. I love the picture as well as the character descriptions. I don't have time (nor the skill, really) to compete in this thing, but maybe I'll write up a fan-fiction battle between your fictional trainer and one of my choosing if you permit and I have the time.
