anyway i like the out of focus of the face, it looks like and old pic (and he is staring like an 30Β΄s actor, like a dreamer look) . maybe if you blur a little some parts of the hair we can think that you do the out of focus on purpose

I do very much like this photo, but i have some suggestions:
The white spot on his face is a little distracting, maybe you could clone that away (not cheating)
His eyes look a little too obviously dodged.
Anyways i like the POF and light is good. Nice one

haha... i didn't have much time for printing. i didn't dodge anything. just put on a filter, exposed , got home and scanned.
his eyes are fantastic, that's why
i'll see what i can do for the white spot, but my 256 ram computer is a pain in the ass and i go on ps the least possible.

He looks so thoughtful and serious, I like how some kids just are in photos, not posed.
Such a precious shot.
I love the oldfashioned atmosphere (I think) this has.
The bokeh and the pose are just wonderful.
And I have to ask, is that texture from the photopaper?

Ilford Multigrade IV RC, pearl finish. The paper is fine, the scan is hum..

Hm, I use that too. I love that texture actually, but it's just something the scan picked up apparently.

Actually, I think the focus on the hair is what makes this photogrph stand out from the usual portrait, i quite like it
