Since I recently got into Kissyfur I though about uploading a Halloween screencap I took from the show, but here's the thing...Kissyfur doesn't have a Halloween episode/special. In fact it has no holiday-themed episodes outside of arguably the third special "The Lady Is a Chump" which takes place close to Mother's Day. So I figured I'd make do with the closest thing the show has to one. Here's an image from the late Season 2 episode "Halo Goodbye" (ohohohoho!) for the holiday.

In this episode the swamp cubs are practicing for a play they'll be putting on at their school for the grownups. They'll be putting on a version of Washington Irving's famous tale The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (a version that is apparently quite different from the one I remember reading-I have a copy of the classic story along with Irving's other most famous tale Rip van Winkle, and it's not like this, maybe they went with a more 'kid-friendly' version of the story). Kissyfur is playing Ichabod Crane and Beehonie is his prospective love interest Katrina van Tassel. Lennie is disappointed with the seemingly insignificant role he has in the play, as he only gets to be the Headless Horseman...well, his horse, to be more exact. (Honestly, I think Lennie could fit well in the role of Ichabod's rival Brom Bones...) Suddenly the gators show up and scare everyone off. Lennie runs for it but the gators manage to trap him high on a cliffside over looking a ravine. The gators try to pounce but knock him off the ledge! The worst thing the cubs could imagine has just happened...Lennie is...dead!

The next day the cubs, Gus, and Lennie's parents gather around for a funeral/memorial service to Lennie, and that evening, Kissyfur heads off, telling his dad that he and the other cubs will be having a meeting at their clubhouse to remember Lennie's life, with Kissyfur providing a eulogy for their lost warthog friend. But as he heads to the clubhouse that night, something terrifying sneaks up behind him: the spectral form of Lennie! Scared out of his wits, Kissyfur bolts it out of there and at the clubhouse, tells his friends that he saw what he thinks was Lennie's ghost. Beehonie remembers that Miss Emmy Lou once told her that sometimes people gather in the dark around candlelight for a seance to try to contact spirits. She thinks it may be a good idea to hold one to try to contact Lennie's soul and find out why he's seemingly not gone on to the afterlife yet. So here we see Beehonie, Kissyfur, Duane, Stuckey and Toot all holding hands, eyes closed around the candle as they try to summon Lennie. They're gonna soon wish they hadn't done that

Yes, as you might have guessed, the first thing that came to mind when I saw this scene was a Beatles song. "Cry Baby Cry" from The White Album to be exact, a light-hearted children's nursery rhyme-inspired song with some darker undertones to it (particularly this last verse, which is what I thought of-I've been a Beatles fan for a long time and am pretty well-versed in all their albums and songs, so things like this would come naturally to me ). Hey, the episode's title is a Beatles reference in and of itself, so a scene in this scene reminding me of a Beatles song is probably not too surprising and understandable Yeah, this is the closest Kissyfur comes to a Halloween episode. (They actually mention Halloween in this episode but I'm not sure it's actually set around that time.) Personally, I'll probably disappoint a lot of people by saying I'm a non-believer in ghosts (and of course, well, you can guess there aren't really any in this episode), but this is a fun little bit of imagery that would be appropriate for the season
