The time has finally come for the moment no-one has been waiting for...

ANCIENT ARTWORK ASSESSMENT TIME!

First in line is this image, previously named "Cranial Detonation" (now changed to "Cranial Combustion" because it rolls off the tongue better).

This is one of the few examples of an image that I'm still quite proud of. It's simple, has good background detail, a good foreground shot, and the lighting, while simple, still holds up rather nicely (and who says regular lamps don't cut it sometimes huh?).

Though unfortunately, the cardinal sin of all of these old scenebuilds I've done is made abundantly clear: AWFUL image quality.

Granted its still 1920x1080, but when you have monitors that go up to 4k and beyond, its quite hard to pass and looks crusty as fuck when you look at it hard enough. Not even mentioning the fact I uploaded it into Steam screenshots, in turn, compressing it even more.

The premise of the build was thought up after playing through the underground sections in Episode 1 far too many times - A part I still adore and I feel is really criminally underrated among the fanbase. I will honestly say that it's probably one of my favorite parts of the ENTIRE SERIES.

The really creepy abandoned car tunnels and parking lots combined with the screeches and screams of Zombines, Fast Zombies, and Antlions duking it out with no regard for anything, all going down while Gordon and Alyx are stuck in the middle just trying to find a way to get back above ground so they can get out of the city before it gets literally vaporized.

Tbh the whole of Episode 1 is underrated, but i'll save that for another time...
