I really like this deviation! The composition seems good, but it's the images of prison/freedom that kinda hit me when i saw this pic first. I love the texture of the fence and the fact it's all falling down. Only problem is the grain of the pic, but that could be fixed with a better scan. Good work!

Great shot, nice perspective, nice lighting, nice shadow, nice everything really. I do agree with achfoo though in that it is a tad grainy, however, I think the grain adds to the overall image, gives it a nice warm feeling

The shot is too busy. I think the concept is good, but you didn't pull it off. Are you familiar with Michael Kenna [link] or Rolfe Horn [link] ?
I think it would do you good to look at their work. From watching your work, I suspect you would appreciate theirs.

I love this too. I know this is just my opinion: i'd crop it, cut it just below the water line in the back.
Of course i could do that myself
What i mean is that the land in the back (pier structure, trees) distracts from the real action: the fence and the shadows.
Minus the top bit it would be for me one of the absolutely best shots i've EVER seen on DA!

Hmmm, I agree with marcyintellect. I think the sky looks really grainy and that really takes away from the potential of this pic. I'm not a photo guru, but this is still a good shot, it could look better though.

I don't like this. the composition is off (to me, not to everyone) because there is no point of vertical attention, yet it seems like there should be one. the quality is really grainy, and i dont like the sky or pier because it would have looks better if the focus was just on the fence and sand. you need to get something with more manual controls, buddy, point and shoot isn't doing it for you.
don't be disheartened that I am not as easily impressed as the others who have commented...I just mean try harder/ do more. practice makes perfect (though i used to be told perfect practice made perfect....but i prefer to think of it as the first way)...
keep a' trying. maybe try something new.... an abstract thing or some household stuff in a location where you can adjust how much light or how little light there is around you....
