(Description fleshed out on 2023-11-01 06:56 Eastern Daylight Time) This is my final entry for #Drawtober2023 , specifically for #DrawtoberDay27 "Costume" and #DrawtoberDay30 "Mummy" (mixed them up in the in-image title due to the words flowing better in that order† ). Another near-last-minute submission, though a bit more justified as I had a quite packed Halloween, from 2 unrelated meetings, to a mid Halloween Party where me and friends attempted to watch the Rocky Horror Picture Show only to be severely hindered by SpOoKiLy shitty internet (), to me trying to spread the Trick-or-Treat badge to as many people as possible. Why didn't I do this drawing or the badge-giving ahead of time on a previous day? That's a good question. *awkward pause*

This artwork depicts, as in the original description, "My rose-ringed parakeet character(?) Barry wrapping himself up in toilet paper to costume himself as a mummy." Barry is a character‡ found in some incarnation in all my (broadly alternate history?) settings except "the cursed timelines".‖ He is an extremely smart and curious blue-mutation Psittacula krameri (a species often known as a rose-ringed parakeet, {Indian} ringneck parrot, or other permutations) who loves potatoes, beards, eyes, and kisses. In this picture, it looks like he wanted to costume himself up for Halloween as a mummy by rolling himself up in toilet paper. Could only get one sheet-width on, though. He is wearing his ring-cap, a hat specially made for him made of a silver jewelry ring with foam filling in the top, thus being constructed in a similar way to a post-Early-Medieval European crown (he loves rings and shiny things, too). He is standing on top of a thin towel rod like one may hang washcloths from, possibly threading the toilet paper all the way from a dispenser-mounted roll well down and to his left—thankfully he's able to fly or this would be a much more difficult task.

Again, like the previous deviation, this was hastily-done and I believe it shows, with many of the same apparent faults of it, for instance the sepia tone—though again, this is dubiously a fault—and rough blending. I wanted to derive his pose more from my reference,§ yet attempts at doing that resulted in perspective issues it'd take time to analyze and resolve or more practice at drawing/recognizing correct perspectives, resulting in me reverting those changes with (due partially to inefficient erasing) a darkening effect in those areas. I also think the tail feathers are insufficiently dark, the folds on the toilet paper aren't quite right, and most importantly of all, I wish I had used color to display his brilliant cyan coloration. Oh well, practice makes perfect, and maybe I'll do a follow-up on this with a different pose, in color, et cetera.

Anyway, that's all I can think of that's especially relevant. Hope you all had a Happy Halloween!¶

†Still wondering if it's possible to replace a Sta.sh submitted deviation's image while retaining a copy of the original submitted at the original time...

‡I have hesitated at times from using the word "character" to describe him, as using that term for a "feral" individual in a world with humans and/or other species conventionally considered sophont feels kinda odd... but ehh, he deserves it.

‖That is, Blood on the Risers, There Is No Alternative, and the later stage of 鞏鉛甌 (Gǒng Qiān'ōu) → Who Will Turn the Wheels?), also, while not necessarily "cursed" timelines or ones I have decided Barry won't be present in, no development yet exists for him in Over The Sea To Sky or Anti-Steampunk. Yes, I am aware that these words have no meaning to virtually all of you and I have uploaded no content on all of them save a very early incarnation of OTSTS, but just to get their names out...
