Ripple and Riggie had just finished figuring out their new living arrangements- the papers for the new house were all filled out, their things were packed, etc; and now they were tucked away in their bedroom getting ready for bed. In the morning, they would get Kai, and do the actual Moving part. Ripple had been depressed for a while.

"Riggie..," Ripple pleaded, "I don't want you to go into this relationship thinking you can try to fix me..."
"I'm not trying to fix you, hun," he said. "Listen, we've been putting too much pressure on us recently and on trying to get everything figured out perfectly for Kai. Why don't we... since your mom is already going to be watching Kai while we move... why don't we go get lunch after and have like, a normal Friend day?"
"A friend day?" she asked, confused. He looked at her. "That's a thing?
He laughed. "Yeah, that's a thing." It had been a while since they did anything fun. "We can... go get lunch, take a walk around the park... take a break together. We need some down time what with all these major things happening and all."
She sat back on her legs on the bed. "Huh," she thought out loud. "I can't remember the last time I did something fun."
"I can," he said. "Back in Hemlock, we met for dinner to catch up at that tavern, remember? Before you found out about the world, when we were excited to see each other again, and both kind of nervous."
"Yeah..," she said.
"I liked us being like that."
"Me too. I forgot that there was even a time we didn't have so much weight on our shoulders," Ripple gave an awkward laugh. "Can we... can we try to be like that again?"
"That's exactly what I was thinking," he smiled.
