more of my scp wakey wakey au (Link - Link - Link ) -- bit of a time skip (after saving the other 3 lords and them getting settled in foundation custody) but the joke wanted to be made. Briefly mentioned in this post , after getting used to another leftover ability. Sometimes you just want to relax and unwind when you're not feeling well. and in this case, literally.

EXTRA bit of context: The lords still have that shifting flesh ability that gives way to a more abstract form. The Masked Lords would only start to exhibit this when their appetites went unmet for too long, and those shifted forms were uncontrolled and painful. Now in Wakey Wakey when it starts manifesting, the flesh is controllable (they have to learn How To, but its doable.) And is only mildly strange feeling at first. Takes time to get accustomed to that ability, just as it did with their emotional ones. Especially given its ties to their previous iterations’ activities when it started to sprout. The flesh is luckily hued to match their new selves though, so they do not have to see the same garish colors from Alagadda.

It sprouts first for, and is hidden and repressed for a few days by, Rubedo – still struggling with the Not Being Normal Humans and the Not Wanting To Harm Anyone (mention again here)things. It scares him so much, that it takes him those few days of stress and panic to realize that It Feels Different Now. Just clicks for him. A lucky and quiet epiphany that calms him down enough to realize that its ok. Weird, but ok. Controllable. And you’d think the smart thing to do would be to tell anyone about it but instead he takes the risk of keeping it to himself for a few more days while he practices controlling it. Doesn’t want to scare his friends nor the possibility of accidently hurting them. Let’s himself unravel a bit further and further each day, and then forming his human self again. Until he eventually gets to the lion centuar point. And its a difficult Come To Terms, but its him. He knows thats what he is now – whatever it is. It gets to a point that he’s comfortable and confident enough to unravel fully to sleep.

Now he just has to. Tell The Others. Who are definitely going through the same thing, just haven’t figure it out as quickly as he did.
