In celebration of Mewtwo's birthday, I posted some very old artwork on Twitter/X related to him - a Dark-type version of Mewthree and a Ghost-type Hallowed variant of him that was in major need of a redraw. This is the redraw. Instead of having it remain as a Hallowed Pokemon, I decided to make it a convergent Pokemon. I further elaborated on its main inspirations - black cats, phantom cats (also known as alien big cats or ABCs) - and added a couple more. Its right arm is a play on phantom limb syndrome, a condition in which amputees feel pain or any sort of sensation in a limb that's no longer part of their body. Its dex entry stating that it has a weak heart is also a contrast to Mewtwo's cold heart, but a reference to the term "scaredy cat."
I decided to give it the Hitmonlee eyes and as soon as I finished coloring them, I went "Oh God." You can't tell me those eyes aren't disturbing.
