Description Hi everyone, how have you been? you know I recently remembered the good old 1st Megaman X and I'm planning to play it again, while listening to the music from the game....I remembered when i saw the iOS version.....man, just...I can't believe it, how a "good company" let that happened?! there wasn't a quality control while making this game!?, missing animation frames, random black screens all over the level, recycled artworks from Megaman Maverick hunter X (better remake than this one, by FAAARRRR), and please! just look at the bosses sprites!!!, they were even trying!? X is the only one that looks decent, sadly, the missing frames in some of his animations just make him look bad, STAY AWAY FROM THE iOS VERSION! if you want to play a good Megaman X game play the Snes version or the PSP version, both are amazing and MUCH better than this piece of sh#t!

....well after that nerd rage XP, what you see here is a little something that I did last night, I watched the boss sprites from the iOS version and I thought "...man...even I can do it better!" so I tried and what you see between the original sprite and the iOS version sprite is the result, I know, maybe those white dots in his armor aren't well positioned, but I tried to stay as closer to the original and at the same time try to make it look more detailed, also, I couldn't add other colors that weren't in the original color palette already, so couldn't add more light to the armor (specially in the yellow part of his armor), I think that's all for now, take care!

PS: the iOS version remember me to the "Botched Ecce Homo Painting" meme XP [link]

Well what do you think you are going to get on the iOS?
Besides, iOS versions of games suck.

As much as I want to say "Good don't define that game, good define all other megaman games" and something like that, in the end if your own opinion about it and I have to respect it, but you have to admit that we been had better remakes of the game (the psp version for example)

Well, that's great because its so clean and improvement over 16 bit. The third is almost like 16 bit and somewhat blur or something.

My God. I know how you feel. It's sad that Capcom actually let this get released. The iOS version may be called Mega Man X HD, but in reality it feels more like a really bad, half-done fangame. This game is exactly why I tend to stay away from HD remakes quite often, though I have played some good HD remakes in my time though.

How sad it is that a amateur can do something a thousand times better than paid professionals?
Seriously, the IOS port looks like shit, It looks like they threw a bunch of filters on the original sprites and called it a day.

Say, do you think it is rippable? 'cause, if so, one could uncompress the IPA (can be uncompressed in WINRAR), modify the files to use SNES sprites, overwrite the exisiting files in the IPA and reup somewhere as a "fix"

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Gregarlink10 In reply to Elmind [2012-09-03 00:37:16 +0000 UTC]

Well...the iOS version IS rippable, some guys at the sprite INC ripped the bosses already, but I don't know if they might try to modify that version...I won't hurt to ask

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Elmind In reply to Gregarlink10 [2012-09-03 03:08:13 +0000 UTC]

Modifying mobile games seems easier. Done once with Guitar Hero 3 for J2ME. And since IPA follows the same structure (having resources "sepparated" in specific folders or files, rather than encrypted), I believe it is very possible to make an improved version and release within a closed circle. Or even better: submit to Capcom as a "version they should re-release"

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Gregarlink10 In reply to Elmind [2012-09-03 03:28:42 +0000 UTC]

Well...considering how Capcom is being acting about Megaman this days they could demand us or they could do absolutely nothing (like with the MML3 petition....sigh...) but you know, it could be interesting to see a "fixed version" of the iOS version, but what i really want to see on that game is a fix for the "black screens" in random parts of the stage and X missing frames, that could make it a LOT more appealing (...well, at least to me)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Elmind In reply to Gregarlink10 [2012-09-03 04:23:43 +0000 UTC]

Those kind of things, I guess, would requireone to recode it. And, if recoded is needed for this, it would be more worth to just start from scratch and make it way more decent. I dunno how Capcom Japan let this past the radar.

I don't know....honestly this days I can't believe what capcom is doing to one of their most loved characters, and not only the character, an entire fan base too, is like if capcom is telling to the rest of their fans "when we get tired of the franchise, we will make your beloved characters look like a joke, be ready"

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Elmind In reply to Gregarlink10 [2012-09-03 21:17:53 +0000 UTC]

Honestly... I doubt Capcom Japan even approved to begin. I mean: ever since the MML3 fiasco, I never ever heard of any more Megaman port for J2ME devices, at least not out of Asia. Turns out they are STILL making ports in China and others, but not for EUR and USA. Who is to be blamed? Capcom Europe! They pinned the MML3 failure upon the fans, that most likely pissed off the big guys in Japan.

I bet my balls this version was developed by either Capcom USA or EUR. I mean: Check Capcom Mobile Japan, ignoring the iOS games

IMO I think that they shouldnt have the blocky gray line, it made a lot of sprites horrible, like Sigma and most of the bosses. they should have done what I did to the sprite.

Yeah, me too, but I fear the worst, I feat that they use the MMX sprite and edit it to look like Rock, Volnutt and EXE! (You know, like they did with the man character)

Gregarlink10 In reply to Souleaterf [2012-09-05 08:47:22 +0000 UTC]

Yup, what's worst, today I finished MMX2 again, at the end of the credit they say "And you as Mega man X".....so basically if capcom don't cares about the Megaman franchise, they don't care about their fans

Pingasaur In reply to Gregarlink10 [2013-11-14 03:19:54 +0000 UTC]

If it really was true that Capcom didn't care about the franchise then they would not even bother with re-releasing ANY of the older games. Last time I checked the Nintendo E-shop not too long ago, all 6 of the NES Classic Megaman games were available for purchase, along with MegaMan: Dr. Wily's Revenge for the Gameboy. As far as I have heard, none of those re-releases were botched at all, and there is no sign that Capcom will remove them from the E-shop. I also do not recall any announcement that Capcom gave up on re-releasing the rest of the handheld Megaman games, including MegaMan Xtreme 1 and 2. BTW, On one of the earlier Kickstarter updates for Mighty No.9, Inafune himselfe stated thatΒ there are "no bad guys to rail against". He gave credit to his previous employers,Β as well as stating that without them, the new game wouldn't be possible. That's right,Β Β even after all the drama of the past, they (Inafune and the rest of the Mighty No.9 developers) don't want people to use this game as a reason to bash Capcom.Β Of all of the great things Inafune got from his fans, why wasn't complying with HIS OWN PERSONAL REQUEST one of them.

When I saw the sprites, I couldn't help but think that they really slapped the SNES sprites into some resizing filter stuff for the sake of not needing to redraw the sprites. Like, what.

Your version of the sprite is cool, though.

Gregarlink10 In reply to MotorRoach [2012-09-05 08:50:22 +0000 UTC]

Hehe thanks

technically that was what they did with their "sprites", if you look at the Armored armadillo iOS sprite, you can see that there are still some pixels in it eye while he's being shocked with electricity
