Description
Finished up the third assignment for my workshop.ΒCreating an ambient light pass (without direct light effecting the object) is easy when the object is white. But when the object itself is colored things can get difficult. In order to master this I use a multiply layer (about 65% or whatever seems right for the situation) of the material color and use it to darken the ambient light pass. I then estimate how the color in the lit areas will look like and add an overlay layer in the end to push the saturation in the terminator areas. Finishing off with some extra blending.Β

The background kinda reminds me of Bongo Hills in the original Rayman game.

This is surprisingly helpful, I wasn't expecting an in-depth shading tutorial
