Description
Seasons circle 'round us all.I felt like doing something really simple and stylized with my fairies so here are the respective heads of the four seasonal courts! I was debating whether to even add their wings in this one; significantly powerful fairies in this story are able to conjure or dismiss their wings at will, since it isn't always convenient to walk around with them all the time, and in the end I decided not to go for them but now I'm thinking I might add them in later, so we'll see!
So here's some info on these four, continue scrolling if you wish to see extensive rambles:
The one on the far left is Ceracif, the Commander of Winter. A fierce and natural leader, she sees winter as a challenge, where the strongest must make it to Spring to survive. She is brilliant and calculating, but always fair and never stacks the odds in one direction or the other, and she has a protective and motherly side to her as well.
Next to her is Verne, the Monarch of Spring. Verne is curious and appreciates the little things that make spring beautiful, often stopping in the middle of important duties to focus their attention on a single flower. They are easily distracted and sometimes rely on the guidance of other court members, but are able to be serious and take charge when needed. Their title, as well as their expression of their gender, changes as naturally as the seasons, and guests of their annual Equinox Ball often take bets on what title they will take on next.
To their right is Astera, Princess of Summer. She's spontaneous, fun-loving and boundlessly energetic, and constantly follows wherever the sun shines brightest. She insists that her position doesn't make her any more special than that of her subjects, and therefore everyone serving under her court is likewise known as a prince or princess. However, she is also impatient and the most likely to clash with other courts, wanting to start summer too early or drag it on too long.
And finally on the end, Renard, the King of Autumn. Renard is a soft-spoken, timid and gentle ruler, who is all too aware of fall being the season of death and decay and is committed to doing what he can to preserve life, ensuring bountiful harvest seasons to help his subjects through the coming winter. However, his laid-back attitude isn't universally revered, and the messy but necessary process of death usually falls to his adviser, Caro (to the point where some begin to question which of them is really the one with more authority).
Fun fact: each of the four rulers can appear as some form of animal, and often venture to the human world in said form to admire their work or just check up on how things are going. Ceracif's preferred form is that of a snow white doe, Verne's a tiny unassuming green snake, Astera's a giant swallowtail butterfly, and Renard's (unsurprisingly) a bright red fox. They have also been known to appear as humans, although much less frequently, as they generally are dissuaded from interacting with humans outside their own realm.
HOOOOO OKAY NOW THAT THAT'S OUT OF THE WAY. HOPE YOU ENJOY (also I made this wallpaper sized JSYK mostly I wanted a new wallpaper for me)
