reminds me some old folktales in italian Alps, in which usually The Devil tries to trick a country girl, disguising himself as a young noble, gentle and wearing rich clothes xD
well actually usually in those tales he has no horns (curiously he's perfectly disguised, but always forget to cover his goat feet 
ah and the girl usually has no musket XD but that's just a impression of mine

These design are pretty neat! They really make you wonder what kind of story there is behind these characters.

I love it! As others have said, I wish to know more about these characters. I really like the way their poses echo each other despite the sharp contrast in their moods and attitudes. It gives a nice sense of balance to the composition.
I am reminded strongly of the old English folk ballad "Lady Isabel and the Elf-Knight" (sometimes also titled "The Outlandish Knight," "The False Knight Outwitted," "May Colven," and many other variants). Did you have a version of this tale in mind when you created these characters?
