"Levi Heichou!"

You softly knocked on the dark wood, using your other hand to crack open the door. Furrowing your brows, you took a step inside, closing the door behind you. Sunlight filtered in through the windows, allowing the few specks of dust that inhabited his room to dance in it's yellow shine. It shone directly onto the plush velvet green sofa, where a large lump under a blanket laid.

Cautiously advancing, you sat on your knees to peer at the form. Oh, it's Levi Heichou, you thought with a soft smile as his head poked out from beneath the blanket. His features were relaxed and content, chest rhythmically rising and falling along with his deep breaths. He shifted a bit, burrowing his face into the soft pillow as he drew his knees up to his chest.

It's rare to see him curled up and asleep... You brushed a strand of his dark raven hair from his forehead, the pad of your thumb trailing against his smooth skin. His posture is cute, you added with an airy laugh.

His brows knitted together, and he twitched slightly. His once content expression turned to one of pain and confusion. He began jerk a bit more, burrowing himself deeper into his cocoon. Concern washing over your features, you gently placed a hand on his cheek, hoping the touch would be enough to soothe him. It seemed to calm him down slightly, although he continued to lurch every few moments, brows pressed together in concentration.

Is he having a nightmare of some sort? you pondered as he shifted uncomfortably again. You searched your mind for a solution, not wanting to wake him from some well-deserved slumber. Remembering something your mother used to do, you smiled softly.

A small water droplet formed in the corner of his eye, beckoning for you to erase it. You leaned forward, wiping it away from his pale skin. Brushing his raven colored bangs from his face, your pressed your lips against his forehead. "Everything's going to be alright, Levi Heichou," you murmured.

"How many times have I told you not to call me 'Heichou'?"

You pulled back, eyes wide with alarm. His eyes were shut tightly, as if he only awoke moments before. "Repeat it again, without the 'Heichou' part," he mumbled.

"Oh," you said softly. "Everything's going to be alright... Levi."

He hummed lightly in approval, shifting his position a bit. You gave him a puzzled look, watching him sit up as the blanket fell from his form and onto his lap. "Don't you want to sleep a bit more?" you asked softly, staring up from where you sat on the floor.

He met your gaze, surrounding you in the grey pools that held his every emotion he wasn't sure how to express. The steely hues that were so mysterious, they caught you off-guard with a simple glance. Beneath the many layers of pain and regret, you saw a flicker of longing. He glanced from you to the empty spot beside him on the cushion he once laid on. Sensing his unspoken question, you slipped off your boots, setting them to the side. You sat beside him on the sofa, still eyeing him with concern.

You watched him with an unwavering stare as he shifted his position, back facing your side. He finally laid down, head resting in your lap. His gaze affixed itself to yours, succumbing to your calming and caring stare. His fingertips brushed over your palm, guiding it over to the top of his head.

You ran your digits through his dark silky hair, smiling as a content sigh left his lips. He adjusted his position on your lap, to where he had an arm behind his head and the other over his chest. Leaning down, you pecked the tip of his nose, earning a small smirk that formed on the corner of his lips.

Maybe you couldn't fight his nightmares as well as the beasts you normally fought, but you could at least prevent them from coming to haunt his mind.
