Description
Travis Touchdown might have the single most eclectic MU lists.I've never seen a character who had one definitive legacy opponent spiral out of control like his has. Starting with Jack Cayman for the shared reality of being the most violent Wii games at the time. But Jack fell into tragic obscurity while Travis has thrived with two sequels and a spinoff title. Meanwhile his list has continued to grow with characters that either share themes, gimmicks, and great dialogue potential.
But with this many possible opponents stretching from her to there... who should he face?
Here we go (clockwise from the top):
Jack Cayman: Legacy opponent. Frankly Travis' oldest and first matchup. Both are bloody killers with unique weapons who go through ranks of other killers in a carnival of carnage. Both also made their grand debut on the Wii, being the bloodiest games on a Nintendo system at the time (other then Manhunt 2)
Scott Pilgrim: Skipping to the end for the second because this is probably Travis' second most popular legacy matchup. Both are sword wielding losers who to get the attention of the girl they're simping for fights a list of different warriors with their own little quirks.
Dante: Classic red wearing, sword welders with a super mode (Full Armor Mode and Devil Trigger). It vibes but it's honestly weak. Dante has a million better MU's then Travis, though it's possibly in his top 15.
Denji: Both have a surprising amount of nuanced connect's and have a super mode. Denji has Yuji from Jujutsu Kaisen though and I'm more inclined to that but WOW him and Travis have a lot in common. Denji to me also feels like a spiritual fusion of Jack and Scott in a way.
Postal Dude: Lacks any goon connections outside of surface level things that anyone can notice but the banter potential is off the charts. Postal Dude feels more like a boss Travis would come across though and that's neat.
Gintama: Weirdly this is considered more of a joke battle despite how it looks but their connections go as far and sword wielding characters with 4th wall awareness. Both series are whacky enough to vibe though.
Deadpool: THIIIS one is more of a joke battle to me. Think about the Gintama match but cranked up to 1001. Deadpool is a well known character and Travis feels like a character he can vibe with. However it is another Deadpool fight and that's lost all and any momentum.
Seven: Both are ridiculous assassins with a ranking system who are given missions to assassinate a whole slew of colorful characters. Frankly it works but is sadly it's equal in my mind to Scott due to both the power gap and the level of connection. That's not bad though just to be clear.
Viewtiful Joe: Honestly I'm stumped for this one. Maybe it's because they're somewhat geeky characters with powerful abilities plus them having stylizes aesthetics but this one's pretty weak in my opinion, not gonna lie.
