Bush-whackedI'd love to thumb-tack
you to the wall
like a government issue to all
saying this boy
is a heart-breaker
Confused
I guess you used
me but if anything
neither of us got what we wanted
Undaunted
I'm glad you didn't stick around
for more
I'm glad you closed the door
Still sore
you cling like mold
tucked into the folds
of things I once loved dearly
Nearly
threw out half of who I am
(deleted all your spam)
because it hurts to have it all
tied to this man that
took what little of me there was
and made me rethink everything
So close, I thought,
the whole time knowing you were not
what I expected, but thinking
nothing of regretting
and I accepted your surface flaws
without even knowing what all
evil you might have buried
I don't know if it hurt knowing
you didn't want me or knowing
that I wasn't what you wanted
Again I immortalize you in poetry
but, in doing so, knowing
that maybe this will warn the next girl
Should you decide to take her
maybe she'll look here on my wall
and see thumb-tacked, this
government issue to all:
You are a heart-breaker.
And a bad kisser.
If I had known that, this poem
would be much shorter.
