*bangs head against desk* I tried, I tried, I tried, I tried, I tried. *sob* This is what we in the business call, a failure . I understand that not everyone will see it this way, plenty of people have told me that they like this piece in real life, but I wanted to share this, because I feel like...it's important. Sometimes, you will work on a piece that you end up LOATHING for one reason or another. You might mess up on a certain aspect, it may not look as good as you'd envisioned, you may just spend too long on it, but it's just one of those things that will happen to you at some point as an artist x'D. It's very important to me to share pieces that I'm unhappy with, as well as pieces I'm proud of, because otherwise, people get this idea that everything, EVERYTHING has to be perfect ALL of the time, and that is impossible! We all mess up sometimes, we all do things we're unhappy with, it's completely normal! That's also the reason I persevered with this piece, because sometimes, even if a piece looks completely hopeless, there will be something about it that can work to your advantage. You might decide to try a new technique that you were scared to try on a piece you love, in case you ruin it, try it! If you hate the piece already, it's not a disaster if it doesn't work. At least you learned something for next time! That said, life's too short to finish EVERY single piece as well. If you cannot stand the sight of a piece anymore, it's also okay to start again, or move on to something else...so...yeah. I know this is a tad random, but I wanted to share that with you all :3 it took me a long time to realise that you don't have to be super-proud of a piece, or that it's OKAY to admit if you messed up, or if you personally don't like the piece, even if other people do. It also took me far too long to realise that experimenting with pieces you dislike can actually turn them into some of your favourite artworks!

ANYWAY. This is Pearl, from Steven Universe! This was originally just a little sketch, because I love the song, 'It's Over, Isn't It?' and I love Pearl, and wanted to do some fanart . Not my favourite piece, by any means, but I do like how the white outline turned out! I decided not to ink this piece in black again, I wanted it to have a softer feel, but because of the vibrant colours in the background, I found that Pearl looked quite washed out, so decided to outline her with a white Uni-Posca pen, and I rather like the outcome! I might have to try it again in the future .
