Description
Cameloequifelidae-its name combines the latin names of the types of animals that make up this sculpture. This was made during my senior year. The assignment was to create our own original mythological creature and paint it using some kind of pattern. The patterns I chose were animal print. This sculpture was made using super sculpey which I molded and formed over a foil and wire armature that I created. It was painted with acrylic paints and is mounted on a black granite base-even though it was already free standing before I placed it on the base, the black granite helped enhance the black spots and stripes used throughout the creature\'s body. Credit is owed to Patti Nash, my art instructor, for helping me plan out placement of the various animal print patterns over the body, and then helping me decide the different ways that I might paint it. Additional credit is owed to Carved Stone, who donated the granite slab to me. I entered this sculpture into a large art competition, and out of the 45 entries that came from our school, I was the only one to receive a perfect score.Related content
