Description Can you tell I read Angels and Demons recently?

This is my attempt at an awesome ambigram of my online handle (which has been with me since the beginning of my internet days) GRPGM.

This began as a lazy doodle project while I was bored between interviews and such. I knew the P was going to be the easiest part of the design because it is the middle letter of an odd numbered word, so I could simple mirror the image on itself and be done with it.

When I really got hooked on the idea was trying to make a G into an M. I tried all sorts of patterns and builds, some even involved using parts of the R/G letters to make the image, but I finally settled on a larger than average character, using very strict legs for the M with visible joints that flow into a smooth G. After that I figured I could angle the word to allow for the G/M's size and keep the symmetry still.

The R/G's are pretty nice too in my opinion. They came to me pretty easily and the wound up looking nicer on page than they did in my head, which was not true of every single other letter. The trick with them was making the curves very flowing and hoping the hidden letter could pass for flourish on the flip side. I think the effect worked well.

The extra symbols and shapes are just me having fun with symmetry in Illustrator. I think I am going to try and turn this into a forum signature at some point in the future. This took multiple hours of brainstorming and actual drawing, most of the work done on paper, but this final product was rendered in Illustrator (bad choice I guess but it was open when the urge hit me).

Now to sleep.
