Description
Those of you following my tumblr have probably noticed that I've been thoroughly entranced with Hollow Knight recently. Not only is it a fun game to play with an interesting world and characters, it also has a neat art style and absolutely gorgeous environments and lighting. So, I decided to give said art style a try and do some fanart! I like Quirrel a lot--he's one of the NPCs that you can have the most interactions with--so I decided to draw a peaceful moment.
I am really happy with how it turned out, and I feel like studying someone else's color design so closely was a really good learning experience. So, I might have to do things like this a bit more often!
This is the first piece that I finished, but I have one or two more in the works. ^_^
(Also posted on tumblr! Please reblog that rather than using DA's sharing functions, if you want to share this on tumblr. And for anyone who is interested, here is a speed-lapse of the process of making this .)

You draw wery close to Hollow Knight style and I like it. But I think that that purple lollipop mushroom must be more... shiny (with glare) and with floating purple particles around it's cup. But it just me. Nice job!
P.S.: sorry for mistakes. I'm very bad at English.

Thank you, I'm glad you like it! And thanks for the suggestions, too. You're right, I forgot about the floating spore particles that are around the lollipop mushrooms. If I do any other illustrations of the fungal wastes I'll definitely keep it in mind.
(And it's okay, there's no need to apologize! I can understand your comment fine. And I really appreciate you making the effort to comment even though English isn't easy for you. So, thank you again. )

Yay! I'm very glad to hear it! I'm glad you can understand me! Have blessed day and good luck with art!
P.S: which character is your favorite?

Thank you, I appreciate your well-wishes! And also, if you have trouble translating anything that I say myself, let me know. I’d be perfectly happy to try to rephrase things.
And, hm. That’s a hard question to answer, I like a lot of the characters, haha.
I do like Quirrel a lot. I was always excited whenever I saw him again in the game and I like the role he played in the story with Monomon. I hope he’s okay, wherever it is he went after the Blue Lake. (I know one common interpretation is that he’s dead, but I am stubbornly hopeful and refuse to believe it without proof. ) I wanted to like Hornet, and I’m definitely intrigued by her and excited to learn more in Silksong. But she was just a bit too cryptic and we didn’t learn a lot about her in the game, so I didn’t get quite as attached to her. Almost all of her dialogue was connected too tightly to her hopes and fears for what the Knight could accomplish, rather than her own life.
I like the Dung Defender a lot, too, he is definitely one of my favorites. It was just a lot of fun to fight someone who was so cheerful-sounding and energetic, and then he turned out to be an earnest sweetheart as well. He lost a lot, and he’s kind of stuck in the past a bit, but he also still has hope for the future. It’s sad and lovingly hopeful at the same time.
And I actually really like the Knight, if you take the interpretation that the actions that you either can or can’t take in the game represent their own choices and preferences to some degree. They help people when they can, for the most part. They are at least willing to take the time to listen to so many strangers random ramblings (even if whether or not you take advantage of that is up to the player). And if you go for any ending involving fighting the Radiance directly, they fought through so much adversity for just the chance that they might learn or remember more of their past and find an answer that might manage to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past. That choice they can make, of taking the Hollow Knight’s place or searching for a different answer, has always indicated to me that they have thoughts and a will of their own.
Um... sorry for rambling. I haven’t actually gotten the chance to talk about the game all the much, heh. What about you, which character (or characters) is your favorite?

W-what? Rambling? Sorry? Man, it was first time when I really talked to someone here. It was really, really so much joy to read your post. So don't be sorry for this. I like talk to people, and I like good conversation.
What about me... My favorite character is Quirrel, too!
Team Cherry made him very sympathetic. He's optimistic, friendly, and many other stuff. And you always find him everywhere and learn about him so much so he is not just pile of pixels on your monitor.
That "not just pile of pixels" thing you can say about every orher character in game. Elderbug(I want to give him Delicate flower!), Dreamers(I cried while killing them), False Knight(Did you cried on his funeral with his helpless siblings?)... All of them has some kind of souls that was given them by TC.
I like that game very much!

Oh, well, I'm glad to provide some conversation! ^_^ It's definitely been nice to chat a bit.
Yes, seeing Quirrel in so many places and how excitedly he talks about things really helped to make him a sympathetic character.
I'd have to agree! I felt really bad about the dreamers, yeah, and I want to give Elderbug a flower, too. (It always makes me happy to see Dirtmouth filling back up with people, and that's partly for his sake; he's no longer alone!) Unfortunately I didn't quite put together what was happening with the False Knight and his siblings quickly enough; they started to move when I showed up and I swung an attack without thinking. And then promptly felt absolutely horrible after reading the journal entry on them.
Me too. Like I said, it's been nice to chat about it, so thanks!

Thank you so much! Oh, and also I really like Brumm (he's just poor tired soul) and Dung Defender (so friendly face! So funny battle! Such sad past...) Sadly, even if I can give Delicate Flower to Ogrim, I can't, since he's sleeping now.
