He is a Baric Huren, The huren people that descend from the Bastalt Alfir.

Devied was famous for his talent with foresight, the magic of looking into the future.
Typically people were wary of this magic, as looking into the future can taint fate against you, but Devied pioneered a lot of modern military foresight techniques, such as the predictive overlay, a spell that projects a foresight prediction of the movements of foes and world events around you, giving you extra time to react to upcoming events and the ability to ignore them also.
He also invented the method of prophetic seeing, a revolution in foresight where rather than seeing the future exactly, the caster is able to see what they need to be made aware of to achieve their intended outcome.
"Show me what I need to see in order to have the best chance at achieving my goal"
His constant gazing into the future however has ruined his sight of the present.
Rendering him blind, and so again he developed a new spell, ingraining the foresight magic into his very body, in a way allowing him to extend his proprioceptive senses through time.
He is the father of Rae Lyn, who took her surname from her mother's first name, as she resented the abandonment of her father.
Though only when he died did she learn that it was from dedication of his life to forge a future where she could be safe that caused him to leave.
