Description
For the world of Shaelar, people have 'magic marks' that awaken after a certain age, at which point people are able to use magic.
A character's 'Heart Mark' appears over their heart, and indicates the type of magic they are able to use, as well as the method of control they have over it.

The top row of affinities are the "Core Affinities" and they combine along diagonals to form the list of affinities, the colour of the affinity indicates the type of gemstone it would usually require, and the "colour of the magic".

The bottom row of the "Methods" are the basic methods, and they combine along diagonals to form advanced affinities, a person's heart mark is a advanced affinity, but further marks can be gotten from temples & adventures, these usually are basic methods.

If a person's heart mark is cut, they cannot use magic until it heals.

Each mark has an affinity AND a Method.

This is all part of the table top RPG I've been working on, but if you like this list of magic types & arrangement, feel free to ask questions or use it for yourself, (or as inspiration).

Note. There are a few types of magically that are intentionally excluded,
Any magic affecting the mind directly. (Such as emotion)
Any magic affecting the past.
Any magic affecting magic itself.
Any magic affecting reality.

I'd love any comments about what symbol is your favourite, or what kind of magic you'd want, I've always liked the idea of Radiance Crafting, the ability to create items out of a form of light with structure (hard light)
