I like how she figured slipping out of her boots (or, perhaps, she slipped out of them by accident) would make the going easier.  No doubt she couldn't pull her boots free of the mud's suction after slipping out of them and decided to just leave them since it's getting late and she wants to be home and in the shower before dark.  However, the mud appears to have other ideas as it still latches onto her feet and calves with its tenacity and suction.

Love the expression in her face as she realizes trying to walk across the mud hasn't gotten any easier after slipping out of her boots as she starts sinking deeper with each step.  And, love that sign off to the right...  it would appear things are going to get even more difficult for her.
